Antique and Jewelry Appraisal
In order to get a tax deduction for
materials that we were required under our home demolition permit to recycle, we
hired Molly Samitiez as an appraiser. Molly visited the site well in advance of the
demolition and took down a detailed list of building materials, appliances etcetera
that could be recycled. It was a very
time consuming effort on her part as much detail is required. After the demolition, we sold some items on
Craigslist but much of the materials went to various charities. OF those items Molly conducted an appraisal
under the IRS guidelines getting two different sources of value for each
item. She filled out all of the required
Federal forms and submitted her package to our accountant. Our accountant was much surprised by her
thoroughness and attention to detail As a result of her efforts we got a
significant five figure tax deduction. She
performed well beyond our expectations.
