Single story residence, built 1956: When we had our chimney cleaned, we were told that it was unsafe because of a cracked tile liner. The cleaner told us that Deans Design does a lot of chimney liner replacements, so I called them. Gary Dean came out and did a chimney inspection and found the entire lining was cracked & needed replacing. I interviewed him, and got some details about his background and experience. He is a general contractor who was called upon by a developer to restore numerous chimneys after the Loma Prieta earthquake. Because of his consistent success in the field, it led him to specialize in chimney construction/repair. This man really knows chimneys! We liked him, we liked his price. Work was completed in a day and a half. The job was scheduled, performed, and finished off to our greatest satisfaction. This is a truly professional company.

It took them about 2 hours to replace the flue. You can't really see into the flue, so it is a little impossible to know if they did a very good or an excellent job. They were very prompt, actually a little early.
