"The initial preliminary kitchen design priced out higher than client wanted to spend. Her floor plan was reworked in an attempt to lower the price, such as using applied molding on island in lieu of full door panels and changing to a different cabinet line. She finally decided on Brookhaven, which is Wood-Mode's semi-custom line. Wood-Mode has been in business over 60 years, has an outstanding reputation and takes pride in the quality of their craftsmanship. The finish on their cabinetry conies with a lifetime warranty. The Kitchen Collection does not provide construction as we are not general contractors. We supply product and design and then work with the general contractors that our clients hire and pay directly. It is standard practice for contractors to remove the cabinet doors before installing the cabinets. Her contractor placed blue painters tape on the back of most of the doors and marked them with a marker to identify for re-installation at a later date. This has been done many, many times, but unfortunately this roll of tape was a cheap brand and the black leaked through and left marks on the back of the doors. The Kitchen Collection ordered replacement doors and the contractor was charged. The original kitchen ceiling was low and the remodel included ripping it out and finishing it out higher. The finished ceiling ended up 2" higher than anticipated and the crown molding was too small. The Kitchen Collection ordered a stack molding and a larger crown molding at no cost to the client. Per client approved design, a corner wall cabinet was ordered with frame doors for glass. Client later decided she didn't like the glass and wants solid wood. The back of the island was designed with applied molding on the final plan (to reduce cost and.. ..actually is more authentic to the style of the kitchen.) Client now is saying she wants false doors anyhow, but doesn't feel she should have to pay for them because they were on the first drawing. The island was designed to accommodate two electrical receptacles per code. Client did not like the way it looked, and had the contractor place the receptacle inside the cabinet contrary to code. She now wants a full panel on the end of the island, again, at no cost to her. The door; are painted white on a close-grain hardwood. Hairline cracks at the joints on the doors are to be expected. Several of the doors had Larger that hairline cracks and Wood-Mode has already replaced them. Several more of the original doors developed cracks. Wood-Mode looked into the problem and determined there might have been an issue with the glue at the joints or possibly a heat issue on the truck while they were being shipped out. None of the replaced doors have cracked. Wood-Mode decided to replace all offer remaining original doors, which are currently being manufactured and will be delivered to her as soon as The Kitchen Collection receives them. Additionally, Wood-Mode is also providing her, at no cost, the solid wood doors for the corner wall cabinet, the panels for the back of the island and the solid panel for the end of the island as a gesture of good faith. She states shy wants all the doors replaced due to possible color change. There is nothing wrong with the already replaced doors and there is a lifetime warranty on the finish. When she was asked if she could distinguish any difference between the replaced doors and the original doors, she replied "I don't think it is up to me to decide that". We don't know who else should be making that determination. For the record, we cannot see any difference, and we are very particular. The Kitchen Collection takes great pride in our work and we have never had any complaints against' us since our doors opened in 1979. It is very unfortunate that there were several problems on this project, but we have addressed each one and are continuing to try to work with her to help her complete her project."
