Shady business practices, do not hire!! Was hired by my Contractor but came to me for payment directly, and now says that I asked if I could pay him (which makes no sense, why would I offer to pay him). Will not assist me in litigation against my Contractor, even thought the Contractor would not pay him for work he performed. Beware!!!!!
Response from SHANNON HARDWOOD FLOORS
"This customer is in litigation with a general contractor. The customer is upset that I will not submit a letter for his litigation (nor will I submit a letter for the general contractor involved). Shannon Hardwood floors completed the flooring portion of this project over a year ago in June, 2018."

Ronan was great - professional, prompt, and courteous. He did a wonderful job on the floor. I would definitely hire him again and highly recommend him.

Shannon Hardwood Floors Company did good work. Their pricing was fair; it came to less than $10000. The workers were friendly. They were professional. They had good knowledge. Their workmanship was very good.

Ronan did the estimate for the job and he and 2 helpers completed it. Took a while because the new wood he was installing in the entryway had to sit in the house for 10 days to adjust to the atmosphere of the house. After wood was seasoned, he started removing the carpet. Then it was necessary to replace about 60 boards because of dog pee stains. That added to the estimated cost. Boards were replaced, patches were made and entire floor was sanded. From the point they started working on the floors to finish was about a week. Ronan recommended certain shades of stain and showed us samples on the sanded floors. Floors are beautiful - a great job.

Shannon's bid was $300 less than another competitor so I went with Shannon. His crew worked really hard. It took them longer than expected to chisel out portions of the existing floor so that full length boards could be added. The new floor was to adjoin new bedroom carpeting. Ronan Ualionain, the owner, advised me on the carpet man's date and our move-in date. Later, Ronan realized he couldn't get three coats of poly on the floor in time so the carpeting and move were extended. Ronan didn't want to give any advice on the cure period for the floor. Because of liability, he didn't want to tell me when it would be best for me to move in after the floors were done. All he said was that "the longer the better" and "some people don't have your option to wait." He gave me no advice on floor care and left me to fend for myself. Ronan doesn't answer his emails for a couple of days and he once showed up an hour late for a meeting with me at the house that had been scheduled two hours earlier. This may be routine for floor contractors. The floors were beautiful when done, but there were some glitches: the threshold that Ronan installed between the family room and the bedroom had a raised edge so that you could trip over it. Ronan said he couldn't install a regular "reducer" (already existing between the old wood floor and other bedrooms) because he didn't have enough room and because the wood floor extended too far under the doorway. It seemed to me that no planning had been done for the threshold. Ronan blamed the carpet man, but Ronan gave no instructions for the carpet man. I think his men didn't want to cut out a board and do it right. There was some back and forth and, finally, Ronan installed a reducer. If the bedroom door is closed, you can see the wood coming under the door, but that's better than tripping over a raised threshold. A raised nail was pounded flat and left (rather than taken out and filled) so that I can see it occasionally. After the first coat of poly, I found many spots that were rough, pitted or had hair and other things embedded. I marked them with blue tape and the crew took care of them. Ronan waited an extra week to put in the shoe molding and I had hoped to get that done and painted before I moved in. When his men completed the shoe molding, two pieces were cut and set in place, but not nailed. Ronan told me he was going to bring cherry colored shoe molding for around my fireplace, but in a mix-up with my handyman, Ronan never brought the cherry molding. He didn't follow up with a phone call or email regarding the job. When I got his invoice, I mentioned the molding. He replied that he would gladly drop it by, but I decided it would be easier to have my handyman buy and install it. His crew was good at clean-up and my complaints are minor.

Referred by our "project manager" whom we have dealt with for 8 years. Clean license, workman's comp and a current bond. Bid verbally on site to our "project manager." $9.00/SF when he found he was dealing with us he marked it up to 9.30/SF. He measured at (approx) 500 SF for (approximately) $4650.00. We decided not to do hall so he was to deduct 50 SF (hall is actually 52SF.) He told our "project manager" to have them put the cabinets in. But upon billing he tried to bill us for 49.96SF never installed (under the cabinets.) Now he wants to give us a credit for 7.00/SF ($350.00) for the hallway credit after charging 9.30SF ($483.60) in the bid. He claims he doesn't quote by square feet, but that is all he quoted to us both verbally & in writing. He did not do a proper contract, or accurate billing and he refused to get a city license and shut our entire project down for 3 days. He called our "project manager" saying "they had to stick together." Our guy refused. He told me on 2/22/08 that "Shannon hardwood floors is not responsible for cleanup, the homeowner or general contractor bears that responsibility." This is in total contradiction to what he is claiming.
Response from SHANNON HARDWOOD FLOORS
"This customer sent a check for over $900.00 less than is owed for this job. The bid was NOT by square foot and there is no square foot price in the bid. We do not give a generic price by the foot because some areas (like kitchens, for example) take more time and thus cost more. The customer has determined her own price for this job, after agreeing to our bid and after the work has been performed. Our final bill did take out the charge for the hallway. This house was undergoing remodeling and there were multiple unlicensed sub contractors performing non-permitted work. It was the customer's "project manager" who did not obtain a city license. We did tape off our work area and clean up OUR work area as is our policy. We have learned that this customer has not paid for much of the work they had done on this house but only our company can respond to and pursue payment, as most of the work was performed by unlicensed contractors. You can see from our other reviews in Angie's List, we are a quality company performing quality work."

It went great. Took only a couple of days. The owner, Ronan, showed great patience when I sent back the first flooring I ordered after deciding I wanted a darker color. He simply ordered out the new color and took away the old. The installers removed carpet and baseboard. They took care in the moving of furniture. There was absolutely no mess after they left. They cleaned up and hauled away all debris. My floors are beautiful.

They provided a prompt, accurate estimate. They scheduled work when convenient for us to be out of town and completed on time. The floors look great, and Ronan provided tips for cleaning, when to put down rugs, etc. It was a great experience.

I was very pleased with the service. Ronan and his crew where on time and very professional. Several weeks after the job was completed (and paid for I might add), He was kind enough to come by to remove paint that our painter had spilled on our new floors.
