Murdock Tile

DISAPPOINTED – Do Not Recommend In April 2024 I hired Jeff Murdock (Murdock Tile) to inspect and if necessary correct 3-year-old floor tile work by a local contractor. Murdock's invoice notes that loose and cracked floor tiles on both stairs/hallway and kitchen were a result of “not enough mortar on the subfloor or back of tile.” Murdoch re-grouted and replaced select stairs/hallway tiles, but in the kitchen, after he removed a cracked 24x24 floor tile, he suggested “to replace the complete kitchen floor with new tile that has proper backing." Murdock prepared an estimate and we agreed to an early June start date. By mid-June, Murdock still had not contacted me, so I sent a note to nail down a start date; he replied that he’d "be in touch by the end of June”. That was the last I heard from Murdock. He did not respond to emails or calls. I can only guess Murdock bailed without an explanation because he is now concerned about potential backlash for having criticized a local contractor’s work.

It was a longer process than anticipated, but the end result looks great. Jeff was able to install the original shower doors, a great savings.

We received excellent service from Jeff Murdock who performed all of the work himself. He was punctual, responsive and took the time to help us with the final design for our tile installation. Jeff's nearly forty years of experience clearly showed with the precision of the tile cutting. We are very happy with the result and highly recommend Murdock Tile.
