Description of Work: Internet service is a huge problem. I've lived in four major metropolitan areas in the last 15 years, and each one is dominated by a single high-speed internet provider. In some areas multiple companies theoretically compete, but most often meaningful choice is removed for the consumer by landlord intervention or infrastructure considerations. | |Verizon offered the best data service product I've experienced in terms of reliability, and while I've had faster connections and upload times with Cable providers, their speed was - at my apartment in Santa Monica - the fastest I've experienced over phone lines. | |Verizon offered the worst customer experience I've ever had. Bar none. It's not just the price-gouging. It's the long hold times, the complicated phone menus, the rudeness and incompetence of customer support staff, and the general feeling of dishonesty that radiates from the company. Fortunately, service never goes out. Unfortunately, if you need to move, or if you are trying to resolve a bundling dispute because they inexplicably dropped DirecTV billing, you'll endure things like calls dropped while transferring and representatives who tell wildly differing and often grossly contradictory versions of policies, procedures, and your own account history. This happens so frequently I can only assume it's company policy. | |Verizon's mobile services remain the best in their class, unfortunately. I don't know who I'd choose between Verizon and Comcast, but I'll do everything in my power for the rest of my life to avoid entering either of their customer service labyrinths by permitting them to bill me for a recurring utility service. | |And I will never, ever, ever again permit them to offer me a 'bundle' with another company. Ever.

It can be a real pain to deal with Verizon, but it seems to be getting better. The technicians seem better trained, and the wait is not always too onerous. The reps are generally very helpful in regards to finding "deals" for which the subscriber might qualify.
Description of Work: We upgraded our wireless service and our TV subscription so we could record more TV shows as once.

Their internet connection is pretty reliable and I'm actually very happy with their offers and service. On a business week, if I had to call them on a Monday then they tend to call back on a Tuesday. They give a pretty huge window time on their service call and they could do better.
