Yes, I recommend this pro
We are sharing our experience with regard to the installation of solar power at our home by Power House Solar of Redding, California.  From beginning to end, it was a great experience.  The cost, financing, placement of the system and installation process was thoroughly explained before we began.
Throughout this entire process, the owner, office staff and installation crew were fantastic!  they were professional in every way, pleasant to deal with, conscientious, extremely hard working, diligent, prolite, willing to answer any questions, and always respectful our our needs whenever they were working on site.
We would definitely recommend Power House Solar to anyone considering the installation of solar power and our experience with Power House Solar of Redding, CA.

We had a terrible experience with them. We had a contract with them to install a seven kilo watt solar system at our home and mid way turned me install. He decided that he was going to walk off the project because he wasn’t making enough money. We were all set up with perennial, permits was done, solar panels were received, his warehouse in California, he had set people to do the excavation for the solar array with a ground mouth and they just came to do a gun fight with a knife. They just didn’t have the right tools to do the job here and it became very frustrating for his workers. It also became frustrating for my wife and I. So we had an engineer consultant come in, try to give him some advice and he wouldn’t accept anything that they wanted to say. He had gone around with the local people and it was just a real nightmare. I would not recommend them for any work and I know they are popular. They have good ratings. He has done some fine work I am sure but it didn’t work for us. He had few oak trees. They are dealer/installer for sun power. They are the provider or manufacturer of solar panels. Throughout the country thy have installers / dealers to do this for them. My Reese was with sun power corp. in san szae. After a month of emailing back and forth and talking to them on the phone they supported him not us and they wanted out of their Reese and they sent us a re-cancelation notice that I never signed or never will. I just felt that they treated us very poorly. Sun Power is also involved in this. I felt that the sales people were really representative and really knowledgeable and I didn’t have any problem with the sales people and I didn’t really have any problem with any of their installers trying to do this for him but he just was terrible. The guy walked off the job right in the middle. Legally when you have contractor like that you have certain insurances that would guarantee a buyer such as myself that someone else would pick up where they left off and that’s what I was trying to get some power to do is to get somebody to install the stuff and they would not give one inch and they backed off instead of us. I just worked for hours and hours trying to get this resolved. I brought an engineering consultant guy. I offered all that stuff free and I offered to pay for excavation work but they absolutely wouldn’t do it. I just got pages and pages of hand written documentations because I just had a bad feeling right from the get go that something like this could happen and it did. So he hired a person to come out here and clean out the mess and he left. The price was probably reasonably. I believe that the quality of the solar panels supplied by the Sun Power are the world’s best but the quality of the workmanship that I got is very poor. He was very unprofessional.
Response from PowerHouse Solar

"When we entered into this ground rack solar project with [member name removed] in Millville, California in January of 2013, the ground area that was chosen by the salesman and the homeowner, appeared to be a straight forward location for the installation. The customer put no money down, and was not expected to make any payments until the project was completed. Upon starting the installation, the ground was too hard to be drilled with our Bobcat auger, the same equipment that has done all our ground racks for years. At no additional cost to the homeowner, we opted to rent an 8,000-pound excavator with HD auger attachment to try and punch through the hardpan, but again we were unsuccessful. We switched to the bucket attachment and just started making a bigger mess as the layers of hardpan flaked away. The next step was to bring in a 30,000-pound excavator w/ operator to rip through the hard pan, and then build special forms for each of the footings with additional concrete and engineering. At that point, it fell into a term called "unforeseen conditions" in the agreement. That term protects both the homeowner and contractor in the event something is not as it appears; the situation was not as agreed by both parties. In discussing the situation with the homeowner, he made it crystal clear that he was unwilling to pay any additional costs and didn't care how much it would cost PowerHouse to do the installation. We enlisted the assistance of an engineering firm in town, came up with a solution to pour footings that were acceptable for County inspection: wider, and not as deep. The customer rejected the proposal, and the County was obligated to back out. In light of the contract being on hold, we decided as a company to put the customer’s property back into the condition it was before we started, and cut our losses of $4,500. Sometimes things don't work out as planned, and we try to come up with a workable solution for both parties. In this case, the homeowner was unwilling to move forward on a workable solution. Here at PowerHouse Solar, we have 11 years of solar experience, hundreds of happy customers, and pride ourselves in quality work. We truly did our very best to please this customer, but in the end PowerHouse Solar was clearly on the losing end of this proposition. Bruce Blake President PowerHouse Solar"

They finally came through!!!!   The tech was very knowledgeable and apologized, since was on a big job out of town.  I wish there were more availability but there wasn't.  When he came to fix the problem, he was able to do so and it has been functioning fine ever since.
The owner read my review and was quite upset (he knows who I am) and he called me personally.  He said he wished that I had called him personally and apologized for the poor service.  He was unaware that his staff had let me (and himself) down.
He reassured me that this would never happen again.

I think this is a good vendor, and worthy of consideration.

Salesman showed up on time, think it was the owner (Bruce?).  Seemed knowledgeable and prepared.  Brought a rough estimate of what I would need based on what I told the lady over the phone.  Figured I use about 20kwh/year for electric so estimate was based on that.  Showed what the costs would be with the 2013 Fed tax incentives and electric costs came in quite expensive for that type of system (around $35k installed after tax breaks) although I have nothing to compare those costs with.  They offered the Fafco poolsolar solution which was around $5500 installed.
Overall, I think he was professional and not pushy.  Seemed to only focus on the facts and what I could save over the lifetime of the solar (for electric).  Seemed reasonable but had about a 10 year ROI on the money which was a little steep.  He even suggested I could wait for an REU rebate which he felt could come around in June.
Would definitely consider doing business with them.

Response from PowerHouse Solar

"We always do our best to make our customers happy, but sometimes unfortunately that's not possible. We installed a solar hot water system for this customer in 2008 and in 2011 she called about a leak because of freeze damage caused by a hard winter freeze. We repaired the system and added antifreeze as an extra precaution, that is not called for by the manufacture. We charged a service call because it was 2 years out of warrantee."
