Yes they did come to my home to do the work but ended up having to take my computer into the shop. ...four weeks later I picked up my computer only to find that my Adobe Creative Suite had been corrupted and all my files relating to this program unreadable. After speaking with the company that originally installed this program, I was told and quot;sometimes it just happensand quot; This kept me from going ballistic on them (this was a very expensive program) but I still ended up with a unusable program. After much aggravation, I finally restored my program (with no help from Nerds) I will say that they did ask if I retrieved the program but I will not be using their services again.

They were very nice. It went well. They were very helpful and answered all of my questions. They even gave me a heads up about some secure and insecure websites to be aware of.

Very nice experience with these people. Very professional and knowledgable. Only problem was the address listed on Angie's List is wrong. They moved next to Target on Churn Creek. I spent more money than I wanted to but you get exactly what you pay for and they did try to fix it initially when I brought it in at the counter for free

I found Nerds on Call online and chatted (online) with a tech. After the initial chat I decided to take my computer to their office (they would have come to my home if I chose). Within a couple of hours I had a call from a tech who gave me an initial estimate and suggested a computer tune up. I decide, after hearing the estimate, to get a new computer. Not because the estimate was outrageous, only because new, up to date computers are so inexpensive and mine was old. I would definately take my computer back to Nerds on Call if I ever have problems again.

The experience was excellent. The "N***" was extremely helpful and polite. He provided an estimate and we made the decision on the spot to have the work done. He began the work immediately and stayed until he'd finished (very late). He even gave us a discount because of how long it took. The next time I need computer help, I'm calling N*** On Call first!

Great! I had a couple of questions three days later and I was connected to their help desk. The guy on the phone connected to my computer and spent a while with me showing me how to use their stuff again. He also took a few minutes to show me how to use Nero to burn a DVD.

Requested assistance from this company to repair an in-home wireless network. They told me the 'Mac" guy would be sent. When they arrived the boss said all computers were alike (Mac = PC) and that to solve my problem they would need to redoe my cable circuit box as the installer got it wrong. They would have charged $169 to move all the boxes and wiring to fix the wireless problem. But they wouldn't be able to conform that the wireless works on any of the laptops in my family unless they configured each of them individually at $69 each! Yikes!!! Had another company come today and all he did was reset my Airport Extreme and everything worked great for $40 bucks.
Response from Nerds on Call Computer Repair Redding

"Based on what you wrote, I don't blame you for hiring another company. I am a Mac user and am in fact writing this from my Macbook Pro. I know, as you do, Macs and PCs are quite different. In the case of your visit however, some context is missing. In terms of networking, Macs and PCs are pretty much the same. They both "speak" the same language. So networking a Mac and a PC is pretty much the same. The only difference is how to get to the settings in the operating system. Our nerd quoted you our standard cost for networking, which is $169. This includes configuring up to three devices on a network, a PC, a Mac, and a printer for example. If you have more than three devices we charge $69 for each additional device. The nerd you had at your home didn't make this clear, for this I am sorry. I would have enjoyed the opportunity to welcome you as a new customer, and I am sorry our nerd wasn't clear in his explanation of our prices. I am happy you found someone to fix your issue for only $40. That is a wonderful bargain! One thing I want to let you know about though. Had we worked on your network, we would have guaranteed our work. Which means if anything had gone wrong with it, it would be our responsibility to fix it, at no cost to you. You would have also gained access to our help desk staff, which would have been happy to answer questions, or help you with any computer issues you had with your network or your computers. Last but not least, we are the largest computer repair company on the west coast, we have hundreds of thousands of customers who rely on us everyday to make their computers run at peak performance. This means when you need us, we'll be here. We aren't the cheapest in town, but we are the best."

We finally hired another company and they fixed it in one more visit but of coarse we had to pay another fee. I would never have the Nerds again.

The technician that came out was fabulous - a really nice guy. I am a technology idiot, and he was very helpful. However, I have been disappointed in the end product. Some of the data that was transferred over to my new computer is not current (my e-mail address book and Palm Pilot). I assumed the software package he was ordering for me would include Excel, Access and Outlook. My bad - it did not. I'm going to have to purchase those separately. Instead, I have little mini-programs and Outlook Express, which are not sufficient. My biggest frustration is that you cannot reach your technician directly. You have to call an 800 number. They say they have a commitment to return calls in 24 hours, but that never happened and I often had to call several times to get help. Some things were fixed in follow up visits, but ultimately I gave up because it was just too much effort.
