Called for quote on water heater replacement, due to referrals from colleagues at work. Asked if they could provide quote over the phone and they refused.

Surprised to find a Dial One plumbing truck knocking on my door in 45mins. Would have never called them if I knew Dial One was coming. Had previous experience with them was overpriced.

Claim that the company was bought out by Dial One.

So made an appt. Total quote was double ($2917) what Home Depot charged for same job, albeit it was a Bradford White vs GE water heater.
Labor costs was TRIPLE what Home Depot quoted.

So looked up Angie's list and found a highly rated plumber with lower rates than Home Depot and the same BW water heater. Complete WASTE of TIME. Don't call them!
Response from Santa Margarita Plumbing, Heating & Air

"Hello [member name removed], I'm terribly sorry for your experience. We have recently just become active with Angie's List, so I am unfortunately just now seeing this. Around that time, our phone number was actually being crossed with Dial One for some reason, so I'm sorry for any misunderstanding. Of course there are always exceptions, but water heaters are usually pretty straight forward and we usually charge right in the neighborhood of $1,500.00 to supply and install a new 50 gallon water heater, we also do use Bradford Whites now. I know this comes way too late, but I at least wanted to reach out and apologize for any inconvenience, $3,000.00 for a 50 gallon water heater is indeed outrageous and I'm glad you found someone more reasonable. We would love the opportunity to one day try again to help you if you ever have any further plumbing or HVAC needs. If you ever need service or have any questions, please feel free to contact us at our office at 949-858-3818 or [email removed] Thank you, Derek"

We were quoted $250 to replace the water shut-off and 2 hose bibs after calling around to get a good price. The plumber tested the pressure regulator, which is in between the water shut off and one hose bib and found it to be faulty (which I question in hindsight). He told me that the price for the whole job including the regulator was $445. I questioned the price and he told me that that is the package for replacing the 3 units. You have to remove the pressure regulator anyway to replace the other 2 units, so there is really no labor involved, and the retail price I found later for the same model online was $70, so $445 was way too much. When I complained to the company, they refunded $50. At least that's something, but still too much, and they would have cheated me by more. I wonder if the regulator really needed replacing at all or just adjusting.

OVERALL, WE HAD OTHER QUOTES FOR THE FIRST LARGE JOB, BUT THIS WAS THE COMPANY WHO NOTED THEY COULD GET THE WORK DONE THE FASTEST. THIS WAS IMPORTANT TO US, AND AS A RESULT, WE ENDED UP PAYING OVER 1K MORE BECAUSE OF IT. THE SAD THING WAS, IT ENDED UP TAKING LONG THEN THE LESS EXPENSE QUOTE. TO TOP IT OFF, WE THOUGHT THE KITCHEN LEAK HAD SOMETHING TO DUE WITH THE RECENT WORK, BUT WAS TOLD IT WASN'T AND CHARGED A FEE.. UHHH...
