SKOLNICK REALTORS

I have held off on this review for several weeks now, in hoping that the Skolnicks would provide some measure of good faith in our situation with them. Since this has not happened I am writing this review in order that others would beware of entering into any contract with Skolnick realty. Our decision to choose Skolnick realty was probably one of the worst decisions we have ever made. They are constantly distributing solicitation materials in our neighborhood so we decided to consider them. Mr Skolnick had a great presentation when he first came to our home, he seemed personable and had a great marketing presentation. However, within days of listing our home with Skolnick realty, we began to have serious concerns regarding his ethical obligation to us as well as his performance. The concerns continued and in less than 2 weeks of listing our home we requested that we be released from the contract. Mr Skolnick refused and offered no interest in our concerns nor any alternative person to work with. After 2 months of continuing to be forced to work with Mr Skolnick, the situation escalated to the point where it was no longer possible for us to work with him. Again, we requested out of the contract to which were told no and offered no alternative options. We went to Cheryl Skolnick which only seemed to escalate the situation, as she threatened that their lawyer would be contacting us. After 3 requests to remove our home from the MLS by us as well as our attorney, the Skolnicks have still refused to remove it. Our home continues to sit on the MLS and the Skolnicks refuse to release our home as their listing. They have 'offered' to 'allow' us to obtain another realtor to sell our home and then pay the Skolnicks their commission once the other realtor sells our home. The Skolnicks have made it clear it they have no concerns for their customers, only a desperate drive to obtain their commission. Please be aware when you choose a realtor that it is the broker (in our case Cheryl Skolnick) who has to agree to ‘release your listing’ should you decide you are dissatisfied or choose not to sell your home. I am sure that this is not the practice of the majority of realtors, as we have encountered several that are shocked at the Skonicks treatment of their customers, but please be aware.
