He was referred to me by my homeowner’s insurance agent. We think that he has been in the business for 20 years and his company is not very big. We spent approximately $13000 on that service. He was extremely knowledgeable, very professional and he had a good personality. He was an easy person to talk to and he answered any questions we had. He was willing to work with the customer and discuss different options. We were going to have our total roof re-done, but we had a tile roof and he said that we would save money by just re-using the tile that we had. We would definitely recommend him to anyone. He and his crew were very polite and they did excellent work.

This contractor seemed honest at first. However, he started the project late and repeatedly failed to show up for work as promised. He also did not call to cancel while my family sat around waiting. He collected the entire contract amount up front which is a violation of state law. He took over a month to finish the project and damaged bricks, walkways, plumbing, grass, and even molding he had just installed. His "contract" lacked signatures and consumer information and did not comply with state codes. He never issued any exchange orders for changes/additions to the contract. After completion, he attempted to collect an additional $7,000.00. We finally agreed to a lesser amount but he refused to pick up his check and would not have any contact after that. Shockingly, he did not pay his supplier for the materials. That company recorded a lien against our property for almost $8,000.00! I was forced to hire an attorney to avoid foreclosure. It appears this contractor has never read the Business & Professions Code which contains specific rules for paperwork, billing, liens, etc. He committed numerous violations and kept almost none of his promises. This simple job became an incredible nightmare. DO NOT USE CRAIG MACKENZIE ROOFING!
