"Thank you. We are grateful to be your trusted home services company. Jason Hanson President"
The crew was polite and worked very hard, they replace both systems in one long day, ending at approx. 7pm.
During the installation there was one man working on the inside of the garage installing the new heater, and one on the outside of the wall installing the AC unit.
After the heater was installed and connected, the young man working on the AC unit came and got me, he showed me they had mistakenly installed the heater against the wall not allowing room for the pipes from the AC unit to run behind it. He suggested an alternate route, of running the pipes, where they stuck out in the way. I said no and rather than having to take out the heater, I showed him a different way to route the pipes, not the best, but I could live with it.
Later on after the installation, the young man who had installed the AC and seemed to be in charge pointed out different features of the units. He then pointed out to me, behind the AC unit a square hole approx. 5" X 5" that he said he had cut through the concrete, filled with pea gravel, there was the condensation pipe that would drain out into this hole down to the dirt.
I have been looking at this drain for the last few months, and the concrete is always wet around the "hole". I thought must be draining a lot of water. Well I took a closer look at it today and could see standing water around in the gravel. I scraped out the gravel and found that he had only cut out approx. 1" in the concrete, it did not go through as he stated, and filled it the dent in the concrete with pea gravel. He flat out lied.
All of the guys who were there during the day worked very hard, I gave each one a $50 tip. Unfortunately I also gave it to the AC guy, what a mistake.
Other minor problem, not the fault of just the laborers, I had asked that all of the registers be replaced during the installation, which apparently was not written down. I mentioned it after the installations and was told they would do that when they returned as they had run out of tape to finish taping up the duct work. They forgot again, I decided I would just replace them myself when I painted the interior of my house.
Would not use again, one thing I cannot stand is a liar.
The service tech arrived on time and within an hour had diagnosed the issue. It turns out it was a small part that he had available in his van. However, when he delivered the news of what was actually wrong he also came with a "doom and gloom" analysis of the system, complete with pictures of how terribly dirty it was. He offered an option that cost nearly two thousand dollars! He also pushed to sign us up for their maintenance contract.
My wife and I fretted a bit as he sat there waiting for us to decide what to do. Finally, we made a middle of the road decision and had a couple of items fixed but neglected to pay for a new blower or the $350 cleaning fee.
Once we had some time to do a little research on the cleaning fee we quickly found that (a) most people can clean their own systems or (b) another trusted provider could do it for less than $150! Performance Heating and Air gave us the trustworthy quote on cleaning. I've used them in the past and would have used them today but they weren't available for 2 days and there was no heat in the 1st floor of my house.
Sierra Pacific was available quickly but definitely over-charges and tries to sign you up for re-occurring payments (the maintenance contract). I feel like they're the kind of company who will always find something that's "broken" if you have them out to your house won't even offer competitive rates to "fix" it.
