Patriot Painting

I was so impressed with Chris on a small job that I have had him come back and paint our home exterior. He did such a great job, I have him bidding on some inside painting. He is on time, cleans up at the end of the day, and pays attention to detail.

Unfortunately, I am compelled to share my unhappy experiences with Patriot Painting Professionals, Inc. The project was understandably delayed due to excessive spring rain; however, I did not receive any notification of rescheduling from Miguel until I made the initial follow up. When rescheduled mid-June, I was advised that a deposit invoice was issued; however, the invoice was sent to an incorrect email address. When I followed up about the missing invoice a day later, the re-issued invoice was labeled PAST DUE. I paid the full deposit and the work crew arrived.

The crew painted the garage/front and service doors, the flashing, fascia, deck, soffits and trim. Additionally, the Crew Lead repaired damaged wood on several windows and the deck. Finally, I asked the crew to also paint the front security door and railing. As a 20+ year homeowner, I understand there are improvement project challenges; however, I experienced several quality and service response issues:

1) The initial bid should have indicated the need to replace the siding resulting from wood rod. Instead, Patriot recommended it be scraped and painted. In the end, I have approximately 320 square-foot of scraped and partly-primed paneling that will need to be replaced.

2) The work-crew was inexperienced: a) Crew members were frequently late and at least on one occasion a member was a no-show; b) They constantly argued and pushed-back among themselves as well as with us; c) The crew spilled primer and paint (footprints) throughout the property and; d) Required significant rework in several areas.

3) My landscaping was significantly damaged due to: a) Improperly placed equipment; b) Over-sprayed paint on the lawn and; c) Employee carelessness.

In the final assessment, I cannot recommend Patriot Painting Professionals, Inc. At this writing, I am unable to complete the exterior painting project. The siding (primary reason initiating the project) could not be painted because the crew did not have the expertise to complete the estimated repairs. Also note, while I was able to communicate with the owner by text and phone; however, he was very hesitant (resistant) to come out and look at the progress of his staff’s work. Patriot Painting made an extremely modest pricing concession for the uncompleted work and damages. While I worked through the remaining service issues, my final invoice was again labeled PAST DUE. Ultimately, the overall function and look is severely blemished and will need to be overcome with another home improvement solution.

I called them with very little time to spare on a deadline to get maintenance done. Steve came over almost right away to do an estimate, and they got it done the next day. They were true to their word on everything. In addition, everyone was polite and friendly.

We have recently worked with a lot of contractors as we prepare to move. Wish they were all like Patriot Painting. A great family business that worked under our tight time constraints. Due to my husband's relocation and my daughter's wedding, we had a tiny window to get all of this work done. We carefully compared a number of contractors on Angie's List and the BBB. One contractor wanted $6,000. more than the Patriot bid. Another contractor was the lowest bid, by a few hundred dollars, but they could not start the project for much longer. Patriot matched their bid and worked to get our project done so fast. What a nice family; Joyce workers in the office, Steve Travis is the Contractor and his son is so nice. All of his workers were professional, nice and hard working, even under difficult circumstances: 100 degree heat wave, a wasp nest and three rattlesnakes on the hillside by the fence. It looks so nice. What a difference it made. House is ready to go on the market and looks amazing.
