This project was completed in two phases, about one month apart - 1) move and upgrade service panel, rerouting the old circuits to the new panel, and 2) install a 200 amp sub-panel downstairs.
We encountered several delays before the project started (many questions from SDGand E about the upgrade to 400 amps). Nick and I worked closely with SDGand E to resolve the issues. Both the new and old exterior service panels were adjacent to bedroom walls and this required that Nick and his helper frequently worked inside the house and the attic. Nothing was damaged in the process and the house stayed relatively clean, in spite of the large amount of dirt that has collected in the attic over the last 75 years.
The initial phase had several additional delays due to weather and scheduling issues with SDGand E but all things considered everyone worked very well together and I believe the whole thing was completed about as quickly as possible under the circumstances. The second phase went very smoothly. The City signed off both permits without any issues. In spite of the substantial delays and other obstacles we encountered along the way the cost did not change.
