He installed a geothermal system and it has worked very poorly during the winter months. we were told we would see a huge reduction in the cost of propane to heat, and the propane bills have still been very high. It turns out that the system went into emergency shut off during the winter months and wasn't using the geothermal at all, just the back-up propane. If that is what it is supposed to do when it is very cold, then geothermal clearly isn't a good option for here. We have asked them to fix it, and if they can and do, I will change my review. THEY FIGURED IT OUT! Thanks to the herculean efforts of employee Jason, we have figured out the reason that my mom's propane bill has been so high. Over the last months Jason has replaced the thermostat, monitored the temperature by computer (as have I) and checked in on my mom frequently. This last week he brought by a temperature sensor and discovered that the house isn't very weather-tight, and so mom is losing a lot of warm air to the outside, which is doubtless the reason for the high propane bills. We expect to fix this soon, and it should solve the problem. I really appreciate Jason for going ABOVE AND BEYOND the call of duty to help my mom!
