The staff at Walter Andersen Nursery in Poway deserve A+ for all the help, guidance, and encouragement they have given during the major project of converting from thirsty lawns to drought tolerant California native plants.  David Ross, Shirley, Andy, and Barbara have been especially helpful, always ready to answer questions, and help us do the right thing while we get used to native plants and their very different requirements.  We have been going to Walter Andersen's Poway nursery since it opened and highly recommend it.  They have beautiful plants and are very knowledgeable about them.

The knowledgeable David Ross diagnosed overwatering of the soil, too much top soil over the root flare of the trees, offered advice to trim, weed, fertilize my new yard. He patiently answered all my questions. Now I realized the mistakes my landscape contractor made. I have learned from him how to take care my trees and plants.

Overall the store is a great place.

I heard many nice compliments from my friends about the knowledgeable, helpful folks at Walter Andersen Nursery in Point Loma. When I had a problem with a contractor who did my landscaping incorrectly, I looked at the Walter Andersen website for help. They have a garden doctor, David Ross, who did a wonderful job diagnosing my problems and offering solutions to correct some poorly executed landscaping in my yard. He came out to my home and answered every question about the best plants for the different parts of my yard. He recommended some great landscaping companies to correct the problem. David also addressed an issue that developed with SDGand E due to some palm trees interfering with cables that saved me many hundreds of dollars! David is an honest, caring person who gives advice NOT to make money for his employer but to save the customer money by offering different options. David is thoughtful, honest and intelligent. I got more than my money's worth when he came out to my house that day. If you have a problem with your landscaping, have this pro come out to fix it!

I bought several varieties of plants from them this season. They are very healthy plants for sale and the price is a little high but you get good quality plants. The people working are very knowledgeable and helped me find a good species of plant for my soil type as well as those that do well in pots.

I go there because they have things that no one else has. Their plants are well cared for. I am a regular customer because of their variety. They will order anything your heart desires if they don't have it! They have a quarterly newsletter that offers discounts on various plants and potting soils. They even have organic gardening supplies, including worms. They have monthly classes on a variety of topics with experts in the different fields. They offer free delivery.

THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A CERTAIN PLANT OR WANT TO FIND OUT HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR GARDEN. I HAVE FOUND EVERYONE TO BE VERY HELPFUL AND KNOWLEDGEABLE. THEY LOVE GARDENING AND KNOW THEIR STUFF.
