They are very reliable and very clean. The staff is really extremely nice. My dog seems to be really happy to go there; she doesn't seem threatened by anything there. During the holidays they do bump the price up by $8 a night.

I cannot tell you enough that this is the place to board your companion! PLEASE IGNORE spiteful, 6-YEAR OLD, NEGATIVE REVIEWS. How vengeful are you to come back SIX YEARS LATER to post a scathing review on a facility that ACTUALLY PAID FOR THE VET BILL? This person's claims are null, void and invalid. ------AT ANY RATE, this facility will treat your companion as if it were theirs. Just to throw it out there, this same FACILITY IS UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT! It has been under new management for almost 4 years now. I recommend this facility to everyone I know; friends and family members. Do not hesitate to ask questions before you board, the staff will gladly answer them knowledgeably.

We had a horrible experience at the Animal Keeper in 2008. Unfortunately we moved soon after so I didn't get to post a review, but we just moved back to San Diego so wanted everyone to know about our experience. Went there based on good reviews. Seemed like this would be a good place for dogs. Our dog, 2 years old, is very gentle and non-aggressive, very well-behaved. Gets along well with other dogs in parks and at other kennels. When we came to pick up our dog, we couldn't believe what we saw. Our lab had huge bites on his neck that were dry blood and multiple red punctures through his fur. The Animal Keeper people acted like they didn't even have a clue it had happened when we pointed it out. They continued to deny any responsibility and blamed our dog, and quot;he may have had a hot spot and dogs scratch themselves. They claimed it must have just occurred on the day of pick up and did not have have a vet evaluate and treat him. My husband asked to talk with the manager and had to had raise cane for the manager to finally concede and take responsibility. They finally ended up waiving the boarding fee and paying for the vet bill. He was on antibiotics and treated for this vicious attack bites. We were so shaken and upset by this experience. It's our theory that there was inadequate supervision during the playtime and he must have been attacked by another dog. i would NEVER use the Animal Keeper again. Be careful if you consider this place. Our dog is our family. We would never take such a known risk ever again. Now we know. We would have understood IF they had taken immediate action to get him treated, IF they had taken responsibility and been more professional about the whole experience.

It was excellent and I would recommend them to a friend. My dog had a good experience there. They allow the dogs to have free play together and it's a lot better than just a cage.

They were great. They charge you for the room and the little extras. He's an older cat and I wanted extra things to make sure he was fed twice, give massage and I called them every day.

I can't give enough praise and credit to this business. They love to care for animals and it really shines through their employees. I've been to several pet boarding facilities, and most of the and quot;othersand quot; have an unsettling stench to them, as if they don't clean enough. As soon as I walk in to Animal Keeper, I am greeted instantly by staff and the sweet aroma of cleanliness! I can't stress enough that a stench of a business surely does goes a long way. I hope my review convinced you to check this place out because it has been an awesome experience for my pets and I, especially for the last 2 years.

My daughter and I searched all kennels in a 20 mile radius from 92129. This place was perfect, other places was questionable with too many tiny kennels. Not for my dogs!!! I love my animals and will only give them the best possible. They are thorough in their records to make sure no animal is not being vaccinated. We have used them 3 times and will continue with them. They also offer many extra services.

Have been using the animal keeper for three years now, they are great! A little expensive, but they have an option for five hoursof play time which is great for our dog. Their external play area uses an astroturf equivalent so if your dog plays rough he will come back with some and quot;rug burnsand quot; which will clear up a few days later.

breeze too.
If you're looking for a place that will care for your dog as if it were their own, this is the place. Oh and I forgot to mention, the dogs are put in a large dog run instead of a cage when boarding. They also provide beds, toys, blankets, and entertainment too. They have the TV playing videos when they are inside in addition to piped in music too.

I use them for my two cats usually for two or three days when I'm out of town. They do special feeding and also take the cats out to exercise and entertain them. They were recommended to me by my vet. They are really nice people who are very knowledgeable about animals. They are very accommodating too. They would take my cats in on short notice. They are good about keeping in touch with the vet and all that. They have a lot of people that really love animals. They take good care of them. They are very clean. It's an attractive place for the animals. My cats are put in a place where they can look out the window. When I go to pick up my cats, I see that they are always just happy to stay there. They are excellent. I have always used them. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

I have 2 large dogs and paid $19 extra for each dog each day to have supervised playtime with other large dogs. During one of the play times my dog got bitten by another dog and they took her to Poway Vet hospital for treatment. They called to tell me this and said Molly was bitten. I went to pick up my other dog from Animal Keeper before I went to the pick up Molly. Turns out they didn't know one dog from the other.....Molly was not bitten, It was my other dog. (I had taken them them there several times in the past) I spoke with the COO of animal keeper as I feel if dogs are properly supervised, this should not occur and at the very least their staff should know one dog from the oher...especially since they put collars with the dogs name on them when you check them in. She explained to me that accidents do happen and they have had staffing problems at the Poway facility. She was very nce and offered to reimburse me for the charges incurred at the pet hospital. She told me this on Dec 31st. I am still waiting to be reimbursed.

The staff is well trained and calm with dogs being less than perfect. Initially my dogs did not qualify, but after exposure at a different daycare center, they now do well with other dogs. I am very happy to be able to take them there regularly, and do not worry at all about how they are faring with a variety of other dogs.

We have boarded our Beagle at The Animal Keeper on two occasions while vacationing in San Diego. We were able to bring our dog's own toys and food, and what we liked the best was that he was not in a kennel all day. For 7 hours a day, he was outside, playing in the grass in the fenced-in yard with other dogs and the kennel staff. He was returned to us tired, exercised, and happy. We even got photos of him playing with the other dogs in the yard! The staff was friendly and knowlegable about dogs. We were able to ask some questions regarding training, and the staff seemed to know how to handle our training problems (they also have obedience and training school there). We will always bring our dog to The Animal Keeper when we are in the San Diego area.

I was impressed by something that happened during a recent stay. My dog's medications had changed, and I had noted that on the paperwork when I checked him in. But the person who administers the meds (I guess it is always the same person who does it), was concerned because they knew it was different than in the past. They asked the front desk to call me and confirm the change in medication. That gave me a really good feeling to know that they were that familiar with my dog and were that concerned to get it right. I've always been impressed with Animal Keeper, but I thought this deserved special mention!
