What stands out about them is their customer service, making sure everything was just exactly the way the customer wanted, being me and the restaurant owner, their friendliness, they were willing to adapt to whatever we needed.

I started this project to reupholster my four kitchen chairs at Calico Corners, where I got extreme sticker shock! Their fabrics were so expensive, and they told me I would need 12 yards of fabric. I quickly started checking with other reuphostery shops and found prices that were half as much.
I liked the people at Ming's and got good referrals. The young lady at Ming's told me to go to UFO or Home Fabrics to get discount prices on the fabric itself. I was surprised and pleased that Ming's did not try to sell me up on one of their fabrics. I did purchase 8 yards of fabric at UFO in Vista, a floral tapestry that was apparently out of style but I liked.
I arranged to have the chairs and piano bench picked up on a Saturday, and they had the work all done to deliver back to me the following Saturday. The items are all beautifully done and look great. THANKS, Ming's for a great job at a reasonable price.

I picked up my drapes and brought them home. As soon as I hung them up, I realized they hadn't made the pleats as I had asked. I had given them a sample panel, and asked that the new panels be exactly the same. The new pleats were 4and quot; rather than 6and quot;. I called to discuss, they never returned my phone call. Called again, they were evasive over the phone, so I took the drapery back.

I showed them the sample, and left my drapery to be fixed. They said and quot;no problemand quot; when I dropped the drapery off. I called to follow up but my call was not returned again.

I called again, and spoke the the and quot;drapery ladyand quot;. She said there wasn't enough fabric to fix the drapery, but they could add on some other fabric. I had purchased plenty of fabric initially, so wasn't happy that they were making a patchwork now that they had made a mistake. The woman on the phone didn't seem as though she knew anything about my drapes, and had nothing to add other than there wasn't enough fabric. She implied that I hadn't bought enough, but I had originally purchased way over what was needed, but with THEIR mistake, now they couldn't fix it.

I got nowhere with her, and this was maybe my fourth call about the mistake, so I asked to talk to the owner. I heard him come over, and she told him I wanted to speak to him, but he would not take the call, and told her to handle it.

Mistakes happen - but the way management handles it says the most about the company.

I don't think an owner of a small business has ever done this to me before - really, incredibly bad service. They made the mistake, won't answer my calls, and refuse to discuss?

I have to strongly recommend staying away from this company.

Ming's was awesome. They gave me a quote over the phone and kept to the price when I showed up with the chair and ottoman. They were hundreds of dollars cheaper than the two other estimates I received. They have a 'real' workshop right there, you can see everyone hard at work in the back cutting, stuffing, and sewing - just like an old fashioned repair shop. They were very busy with customers but someone came to help me right away. They had lots of remnant fabrics. My teenage son and I were looking to re-cover an expensive living room type 12 year old chair for his bedroom. The woman who helped us found at least a dozen medium to dark blue fabrics all for $10 a yard (a very good price)! My son found a lovely, high quality, blue corduroy he liked, though there were plenty of fabrics that were more formal available. We then drove the car around the back and workmen lifted the chair out for us. They told us they would fix the stain on the wooden legs too for with no increase in price when we showed them the minor leg damage. Exactly one week later - just as they estimated - they called us to pick the chair and ottoman up. They did a wonderful job. The chair looks completely brand new. Legs are fixed up, new foam cushion in the seat, the fabric is beautiful, and the edge seams are rolled in all the places the original had rolled seams (including around the entire ottoman). It easily looks like a $1000+ chair. My son is very happy, as am I. I would definitely use them again for any reupholstering work in the future. A real old fashioned business.

Ming's did a beautiful job. They added zippers on the cushions so that they could be removed and cleaned. They also added piping along the edges that set off the pattern very well. The job took two weeks.
