Dan does not promise anything he can not deliver.
Dan's estimate was not the least expensive, but after interviewing and receiving estimates from 6 other contractors, I felt the most comfortable with Dan.
His crew and the whole deconstruction of almost 3000 square feet of concrete, installing pavers, relocating the equipment, refinishing the plaster, replacing all the coping, tiles and updating the spa was timely and on spot.
We never thought the pool and the backyard would look as great as it does.
If we had an issue, it was resolved quickly without argument.
I highly recommend Distinguished Pools and will do so to anyone that needs his services
After hiring him. His team came promptly on the day scheduled and Dan came in person a little later on to make sure that things would go according to plan. I was not there while the work was done (job took 2 days), but Dan came to the job site each day and texted me pictures. During the job he was able to find ways to save me some money, even though it was more work for them, and credited me the difference, a tribute to his integrity. He also personally inspected the job the day after it was complete again, and found a small chip in the concrete and called his team to repair it without my prompting.
All in all a very good experience from a professional that clearly knows what he is doing. Hopefully I won't have any further problems, but if I do, I would not hesitate to contact him again.
Dan was thorough in his evaluation of the repair, gave us a written estimate, and some additional information to consider. His bid was certainly not the cheapest, but he was by far the most professional and the most experienced in this type of repair. After reading the other reviews on Angie's list, and calling a couple of the references he gave us at estimate time, we decided to use Distinguished Pools.
The work began when he said it would, and continued until it was finished. We live all the way in the South Bay, but he and the men never complained about the distance from Poway. Because I was on a jury during the first part of the repair, I was not able to weigh in on the new color combination before the workers put sealer over it.. The repair was great, but the color could have been better. I sent Dan pictures and we talked, and he said it was his fault that he had not had the men wait for me to weigh in on the color. He encouraged me to let them do it over so that we would be completely satisfied. He sent the men to re-sand and re-color and re-seal (not a small undertaking). And all of this was before I had paid him a dime. I was home for the recolor. He sent his color expert and we worked a long time to get it closer to the surrounding fake rocks. We are thrilled with it!
I waited a month to review, because the pool water was too cold to try the slide, Dan told me to call if we thought it needed another coat (they put 2) of sealer, but it works perfectly. I can't thank them enough for a really good job and for adding a lot of service to this rock slide. One day the whole thing will have to be rebuilt, but for only $1200, Dan has given us some extra life out of this structure. It looks and works great. We are happy campers.
I believe that with a bigger project, his bid might likely be higher than others, but that is because he will better anticipate the problems and/or contingencies of your job in advance. He is competent, professional, trustworthy, and fair. You can easily reach him by email, text, or phone. And in the end, you will get what you want.
This has to be at the top of the list for good experiences with a contractor you have never done business with before. I was very pleased and grateful for the good work and advice.
Dan Ramos, the owner is very professional, helpful and has great attention to detail. He goal was from the start to insure that I was 100% satisfied with the end product. I am more than satisfied, and grateful for the excellent advice and encouragement along the way.
Dan delivered as promised at the price we agreed on. However, he went well beyond just that with which we agreed. Dan did a lot of extra work at NO ADDITIONAL COST!!. He provided me with parts and material at cost. He even gave me enough material to complete my coping on my pond. Dan is very generous and great to work with. I would highly recommend his services to anyone who wants quality work at a reasonable price.
And oh, the best thing of all.........he's a nice person with a good sense of humor.
