The process to obtain new windows began by calling the Porterville Home Depot who in turn notified their Windows Installation representative who is out of Reedly. I received a call from the representative within an hour and was able to make an appointment.
I met with the representative twice before making a decision. His patience and willingness to answer an hour of questions influenced my decision to go with Home Depot.
Upon signing the paperwork required to initiate the installation process (Friday 9/19/14), I was given 3 business days to cancel without obligation or penalty.
Monday, 9/29/14, I received a call from the Home depot window installer out of Fresno to set up an appointment to measure for new windows. During the appointment, the installer was pleasant, professional and informed me that he would also be installing the windows.
Tuesday, 10/14/14, I was contacted by Home Depot-at-home Services and an installation date was scheduled. Friday, 10/17/14, I received another call from Home Depot-at-home Services asking if I had scheduled the installation. I informed the representative that an appointment was scheduled for Friday 10/24/14. He mentioned that apparently the date had not been entered into the system and he would do so. Monday, 10/20/14, I received a call from Done-Right-Construction out of Bakersfield. They informed me that they would be installing the windows for Home-Depot but were booked on Friday 10/24/14 and asked if I was willing to reschedule to Saturday 10/25/14.
Once Done-Right-Construction began handling scheduling, the scheduling process proceeded smoothly.
Installation process
The crew arrived on time. They were professional, yet personable.
The sliding glass window/door required extensive assembly prior to installation. I was informed that there is an additional assembly fee for a window requiring this amount of assembly. However, the company was kind enough to wave the fee.
The crew discovered that the ordered windows were too large to fit into the home?s existing aluminum frames. The existing aluminum frames had to be removed and replaced with new vinyl frames (that actually matched the vinyl frames of the replacement windows). I am aware that tearing out old frames is risky. However, the crew did not run into any problems and I was actually glad to see the old frames go.
Seven windows and a huge sliding glass window/door was installed by around 4:00 in the afternoon. Attention was paid to detail and the contractor did not release workers from their jobs until it met his approval. Upon completion, areas were vacuumed and outdoor areas were swept up.
Following installation, I found no major structural damage or other problems. In the following weeks, I only found two or three things that only needed a quick cosmetic fix such as chipped paint or smudges on the windows.
It has been several months since the installation and I have not had any problems. I am very pleased with the windows.Licensing
