Excellent install and no problems over the past two years. System is working well and producing power in excess of initial expectations.

The system, that was installed, did not provide enough solar energy to reduce my bill significantly enough to cover the cost to have it installed or to create a $0 balance. Now the company is claiming that we should have bought more panels, which is outrageous because before the job was started they told us that we had purchased enough. We are really unhappy with the outcome of the solar panel performance and it was a very costly job that has failed us.

I think their pricing was fair. They seemed like a good company and made sure everything was done right. When it first started going on, I noticed it wasn't quite right so I called them up and they corrected it right away. They were always very responsive.

They are a little more expensive than others but their service was all good. As a matter of fact I just recommended them to one of my co-workers and he's using them.

It went very well. I was pleased with the entire process, from the show room to the finished job. We have been saving money for three years with our solar system, and have no complaints.

contract and permits went fine; took 1 1/2 months longer than expected due to backlog. Had problem with one panel inverter 6 months later; took 2 months to get on their schedule. Work on site was good.

Contractor declared bankruptcy, did not do the work, never ordered the materials, and I lost my 50% deposit, ~ $800.

Pros:

  1.  This company cares about customers, that was obvious from the start of the bidding to completion of construction.
  2. Because I had a friend who had significant leaking after solar installation by another company, I hired a roofing contractor to inspect the roof mid-installation (after the brackets, but before the panels).  The roofer said YES did a quality job, everything was done "right".  The Oakland building inspector said the same thing.  And, my house stayed dry throughout the heavy storms in early March.
  3. Pleasant and professional installers, lead by Fabio. (sp?)  He was very patient with me as I asked questions and requested modification to the subpanel conduit.
  4. Competitive pricing:  I got prices from five contractors, but I wanted LG panels and YES was one of only two contractors who had extensive experience with LG. One other contractor would install LGs, but had little experience, two other contractors only installed other panels.  YES's cash price was the best of overall.  I worked first with Skip Woodward and finished with Dan Sisca in defining and pricing my requirements; both gentlemen were easy to work with and wanted to please.

Minor Cons which don't lower score (there are no major cons):

  1. Online contract-signing process was pretty slow.  The original contract was, as one might expect, rather one-sided in favor of contractor.  Dan worked with me to make changes and has told me that is under review for their newer contracts.
  2. NEM application took business 4 days to submit rather than the promised “within 2 business days of your solar installation passing final inspection by the Building Department” and seemed to happen only after my prodding on day 3. On the positive note, PG&E turned on Net Metering within 4 days of the application, rather than the expected 10-15 days.  So, no harm, no foul.
  3. While I appreciated having a chance to review the location of the panels and I had them moved for access reasons, I wish I had a chance to see the schematic of where the conduit would go as I’d have made a modification that would have made the roof easier to walk.  And similarly with the new subpanel, the electrical contractor asked me where the outside box would go and  Favio asked where the inside box should go, but the inside conduit ended up not as "neat" as I would have liked.

Overall, this contractor really cared about customer service and worked to make everything right. My solar system is working perfectly going into it's third month now. I am a very meticulous client, and I would definitely hire them again.

I was very impressed by the whole pre-sale experience as our sales consultant Daniel Sisca exchanged countless emails and phone calls with me to discuss all the various options for system sizes, solar panels, and inverters. He offered his recommendations, But didn't push back too hard when I chose a different option than he initially recommended (e.g., choosing SolarEdge over Enphase).

Once we signed a contract the whole installation process went smoothly overall. There were a couple communication hiccups, but nothing major and in fact one of them involved the workers showing up to start installation a week earlier than we were expecting because our project coordinator was on vacation and no one else called in his place to let us know about a schedule change. This turned out to be a good thing since otherwise our installation probably would've been delayed by rain.

The installation took two days and the crew was very professional and cleaned up well when it was done. The foreman was back two days later to meet the city inspector and we received our permit without issue. PGE granted their permission to operate just over a week later. We're now about 19 days since the installation and the new system has generated just over 200 kWh of electricity. So far, so good!

I'd absolutely recommend your energy solutions to anyone considering the installation of a residential solar system.

I made first contact with the company in February and Jim Gitas was VERY informative and knowledgeable.  He answered all my questions and helped design and size a system that would work to get me to a net zero electric bill.  The big challenge was a very large tree in the back yard that significantly reduced the viability of my south-facing (normally most productive) roof.  Using shading data gathered on site, we ended up with a design that spread the 24 panels over 5 roof sections that would produce the most power possible.
I believe that Jim Gitas is one of the most knowledgeable guys in the solar business in the bay area.  I started on this journey after someone else came to my door and wanted to put all the panels on my south-facing roof that was shaded by the big tree.  A friend who had gotten a ridiculous number of bids for his project recommended Jim.
The system uses 24 SolarWorld 280-W Mono Black panels paired with 24 Enphase M250 micro-inverters and an Enphase Envoy Monitoring Module.  With the monitoring module, I can see current and historical production data from a web browser.
For the most part, everything went smoothly, but with two exceptions:
1) I lost contact with Jim for a few months before we got a contract worked out.  He seemed to be a VERY busy guy and at one point he stopped answering my emails.  After a visit to his office one day when I was in the area, things got back on track.  I signed the contract on May 28 and the install was performed on July 23 and 24.
2) After final inspection, I went on the roof to check the install for myself and found my cedar shake roof had either cracked or missing shingles in about 6 or 8 places surrounding the installation sites.  Customer support was very responsive, but after several attempts to get it right, it finally took me meeting the tech on the roof and pointing out all the places I thought needed repairs.

We contracted for installation of a solar-powered attic fan.  The installation proved to be problematic (we have a very steep roof and a special ladder is needed).  The company obtained the ladder and re-scheduled the installation.  Everything went smoothly.  The customer service is exemplary---I am hearing-impaired and prefer email to phone.  They complied with this and were very responsive to all my queries.  I will not hesitate to use this company again.
