excellent to work with. We had two old skylights replaced and the work was done
when scheduled using top-grade material. One of the old units was very difficult
to remove but Marty did an excellent job and there was no damage to the
interior surfaces. All inside areas were well protected and cleanup was quick
and thorough. Overall the experience was excellent and it would be difficult to
imagine how they could have done a better job.
The contractor made suggestions on what to do if the sun was reflecting off the mirrored doors. Very pleasant to work with.Should have done it 30 years ago; has made a huge difference in the master bath....
we had a coupon from AL for $39.00
It was $345 for the solatube and $414.00 for the installation minus coupon. Tax was 29.33
Solar lighting (and Sola-brite, in particular) was recommended to me by my interior decorator who is established and active in the tri-valley.
I previewed the product at their website and requested a follow up sales call. It was prompty answered, and an appointment was made for a salesperson to visit my home.
The sales rep arrived on time and surveyed my situation and offered alternatives. The sales person went over my options and each one of the products and gave recommendations. He then gave a written quote on some variations along with literature and left me to deliberate.
I fiollowed up, chosing 2 ea. 10" tubes to be installed, Since one of the tubes replaced an existing hall light, I opted for 2 light kits to be installed - one at the original light location, the other to be daisy-chaned into the 2nd tube to operate concurrently.
Note that Sola-brite will need to file a permit with the city for the work - a necessary evil.
The contract was written at the Solabrite office. A 10% down payment was required and the work was scheduled,
When the time came, the installer promptly arrived and he performed the work professionally.
The end result is a fawless, efficient lighting system that changes the look of my upstairs completely. The quality of the materials and workmanship, the steps taken in the tube preparation before installation and the installation itself were exceptionaL The price is fair, I always believe you get what you pay for. The warranty is 10 years on the materials and (I beleive) 5 years on the installation.
I highly recommend this solar lighting solutiont and dealer, and hope to be doing business with them again next year.
They offer a good product. They installed them very beautifully. They did a great job working with the roofers.
I had bought a Sola-tube from Sola-Brite at the end of 2011. Another purchase well worth the money. While in the showroom I saw the display for the Quiet Cool whole house fan product. I decided to check back in with them when the weather started to get warmer. Called Sola-Brite around May 9, 2012. Had a person come out for a quote on May 22, 2012. Decided it was the right choice for me. Scheduled the install for June 5, 2012 at 8 AM.
The installer (Marty) showed up right at 8 AM sharp. Electrician showed up 30 minutes after that. The installer laid out tarps down the hallways and in the bedroom in front of the attic access door. He asked where I would like the duct opening that had to go in the ceiling and where I wanted the switches. He was very accommodating to my requests. Turns out, due to some structural beams in the ceiling we had to settle for a different spot, but it was still in the hallway. There was an open power source in the attic very close to where I wanted the switches so that worked out really well. Installer went to work cutting the hole and adding the ducting, tubing and fans. Electrician worked on installing the power for the switches. Whole thing was done by 12 PM. Very fast. Very efficient. The installer cleaned up, vacuumed and showed me how it worked. Marty did a great job.
I have had it for 2 days and I LOVE this thing. Crack a window in a room, turn the fans on and in 5-10 minutes the hot air in the room is sucked right out into the attic. My daughter complained that it made her room too cold. If I open the kitchen window or patio door, I get a really nice breeze that circulates through the whole house. Of course the outside temperature must be lower than the inside temperature otherwise you just suck hot air inside. But this is northern California and by 3-4 PM the air begins to cool and we are normally left with a hot house and no way to purge the hot air. This is perfect and Sola-Brite did a good job and very fast. I can't tell you whether the cost is more or less than a competing product. I tend to find a company I like to work with and stick with them. I got my sola-tube from them and so I got my Quiet Cool fan from them. But so far I have no complaints. Fan has a 10 year warranty. It's a very simple design so I don't really expect any problems. Plus in my past experience Sola-Brite has always helped me out, even delivering parts that I accidentally forgot so I wouldn't have to make a 2nd trip. This was from the sola-tube install from December 2011, not this recent install, but it's just another reason why I like using them.
We had initially ordered a 2 skylight install, but when we saw how much natural daylight their product brought into a dark stairwell, we asked them if they could install an additional unit in a bathroom. They had the parts with them and gave us a price break on the third unit.
The installation went smoothly, they did a good job of clean-up and the resulting light improvement was impressive.
I'm sure there are cheaper solar skylight companies out there, but Sola-Brite's product seem high quality, and provide significant additional daytime light.
