My 2 cents: The best ROI you can get from any vendor / service provider is the sense of being taken care-of during a time of distress (and sometimes, panic) because of a threat to your health or home. We had a little of both here. Long story short:
I tried to replace a backyard faucet myself and the task was not as simple as I had anticipated. Mid-way thru the job, I go to turn the main water valve back-on to supply water for my awakened and crying two-month-old's formula mixture. After turning the supply valve, the necessary component that was a part of the original assembly from original install in the home in the late 80's fails, and as a result, the water now won't come back on. No water, screaming infant, wife looking at me with the stink eye, two year old running around like a madman, and me fearing I am going to have to send the family to my in-laws for the night until I get this debacle solved.
It's Friday, approximately 2pm, and I'm without water for the family. And as is the case with any plumbing outfit anywhere in the country - after-hours and weekend rates for even the most simple jobs can crush you. 
After calling three other plumbers from Angies List (none could get here within 3 hours - putting me in the after-hours, weekend rate nightmare), I call Daniel at Extreme Custom Plumbing. He tells me he is about to wrap up a job in Long Beach (approx 25 miles away) and that he will head over when he is finished. Nobody else could be here within 3 hours; Daniel got here in 1.5. Within 10 minutes, he has the water back on. Within 30 minutes, he has my botched DIY job 'un-botched' and looking brand new. All told, he fixed all the problems within a couple hours.
He communicates that "the valve failed, but I repaired it to where it works again and doesn't immediately need to be replaced. I'll grab a modern valve and the joint and add'l hardware on Monday and come back to fix/replace the entire assembly when you are available." 
Bottomline: the guy is a true pro. DIdn't overcharge when he knew he could have. Didn't half-a$$ the job when he could have, especially late on a Friday afternoon and it is very close to weekend happy hour. Was extremely organized, knowledgable, courteous, and affable. Will definitely add to the service-provider speed dial in our phonebook. Need a guy in North OC, give him a call... He'll square away your problem and make you feel much better about that crap-event that just almost ruined your day (and maybe even weekend). 

I would not call anyone else to do plumbing in our home.  From the start he was knowledgable, (where everyone else couldn't solve my problem) professional, first class workmanship and is also clean and neat when he leaves.  I felt that what he charged us  was very reasonable.  He is first rate in my book and that is why we are recommending him.
