WENDY WILSON & ASSOCIATES

Wendy Wilson created the plans for our art studio, a freestanding building in the back of our property. It had special requirements as it will be used by a glass artist whose work requires torches, kilns, and large tanks of oxygen and propane. Her design placed the oxygen and propane tanks outside the building, as we requested, with tubes from the tanks going to the inside of the studio via ports through the walls. It includes a bathroom with a utility sink. The building is about the size of a two-car garage. Besides the built-in utility features for the artist, it is also beautiful. Exposed beams run across an open ceiling and a line of high windows let in ambient light and provides a beautiful of the San Gabriel Mountains. It is everything we had hoped for and more. She took our ideas and created the plans to make them happen. She was also an excellent liaison with local planning officials and our progress through city requirements went off without a hitch. I highly recommend this architect. She has the knowledge, competence and vision to make your building dreams come true!

It took us a year to get the design worked out, the engineering completed, helped obtained a conditional use permit, and submitted the plans to the city. Wendy, would check with the city every time we came up with a new idea about what we wanted and if it was doable. She was with us the whole way. We put the bid out to 4 contractors. They were all impressed with her plans, saying that they were thorough, and made it easy for them to quote a bid. Our project is ongoing. We liked Wendy so much we are utilizing her services to coordinate the remodel/ rebuild with our contractor. We meet with Wendy and our contractor every week to go over any issues that arise. We will also use her as a designer on decorating the house. If we ever do another project (God forbid!) we would call Wendy!!

From the first encounter to the most recent (I won't say and quot;lastand quot; because we plan to use her more!), the experience has been very positive. She is very professional, did an excellent job listening to our goals and ideas, capturing them on paper and then showing us her suggested improvements. She is very attentive and flexible, often meeting us in the evenings. Our overall plan discussions ranged from minor cosmetics to adding a second story to interior furniture layouts. For the pool house project, she did an excellent job preparing the final plans. Case in point: The town plan checker said most plans take 2-3 revisions before being approved. Her plans were approved w/out any revisions! Her involvement waned as we took on the final permitting and GC oversight but has been quick to respond to questions about code compliance and details. We have future plans and will be using her services again.

Wendy listened to our ideas and reasons for building the structure and gave much care to how the building would look and function. She was astute in her understanding of the aesthetics of design and the realities of building within the guidelines of planning review within the city of Glendale.

Wendy was a great listener and her extensive knowledge of craftsman homes allowed her to create a design that kept the integrity of our bungalow while making it possible for space to be used more efficiently. She was always available to work/confer with our contractor.n

Wendy is a great pleasure to work with. She listened to my ideas, added her design expertise, and developed the plans for demolition, a room addition, and extensive remodeling of existing spaces. She assisted me in the oversight of all phases of the construction. Her detailed plans were praised by every contractor I interviewed. Now, for the first time, I really love my home, thanks to her work on the design.
