Wow, after having an anxiety ridden remodeling experience several years ago, I was hesitant to give my kitchen remodel to anyone. I am so happy I asked Nick of Rose City Contruction to do the job. From start to finish, Nick clearly communicated to me every step of the way. What I really appreciate about Nick is his attention to the smallest details. He is not happy unless I am. I voiced from the beginning that I wanted my kitchen/laundry to look just like the rest of my 1924 bungalow in style/ detail. I have been saving up for this project for years. I have an old article that says the best compliment is when someone can't tell what's original and what's not. That is exactly what Nick and his team gave me. I strongly recommend Nick and his team to anyone who has an older home like mine, Nick has spoiled me going forward. He has renewed my faith in contractors.

Nick and his crew gutted our bathroom and created a beautiful craftsman bathroom that matches our 101 year old home perfectly but includes all the modern conveniences like a bidet, raised sink and walk in shower. They even managed to get the stains out of the old claw foot tub so I didn’t have to buy a new one. I gave Nick my ideas and he was able to improve them with his own ideas to create the perfect bathroom.

After getting several bids, I hired Rose City Construction last year to remodel my master bathroom. From the start, I knew I had chosen the right contractor. Communications with the owner, Nick, were clear and he explained the job timeline and what to expect. He and his workers showed up on time and cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each day. Nick provided me with great suggestions on some of the design aspects of the remodel. I was even able to get a contractor's discount on many of the products/fixtures. :) I am super happy with the completed work, whole-heartedly recommend Rose City Construction, and would definitely hire them again!!

We live in a 1930 home in Pasadena CA and our bathroom needed to be remodeled. After getting a few quotes we decided to hire rose city construction. I’m glad we did. Nick and his crew did an amazing job on our bathroom project. He helped us with redesigning the bathroom and picking out materials such as tiles, door, fixtures and vanity cabinet. He also provided us with his contractor discount on the products we purchased. He was on the job everyday with his crew until the project was completed. The end result came out better than we could have imagined. We’re so happy with their workmanship that we are planning on hiring him to remodel our kitchen. Best part is that they make their own custom cabinets. We would definitely recommend hiring Rose city construction to our friends and neighbors.

I never thought I'd say this about a contractor, but Nick at Rose City Construction is absolutely phenomenal. All work was done to near perfection. He works steadily on any given project, without checking in and out, because he sticks to one job at a time. He and his crew clean up every afternoon before they leave the house. The quality of the workmanship is superb; he never cuts corners. In doing my two bathrooms and kitchen, he has worked with hardwood flooring, wall tile, porcelain-tile flooring, basalt and marble, ceiling fans and vents, a glass-enclosure shower with glass barn doors, lighting, a whole-house water filter, and, of course, plumbing and electricity. He has his own tile man, electrician, etc. and they have worked with him for many years. He is courteous and friendly. He manages problems and unexpected glitches (my old house provides lots of these) with creativity and finesse. And I had no hesitations concerning the Covid-19 pandemic: He hung a thick sheet of plastic between his working space and the rest of the house, and his team all wore masks while at work. He is responsive to emails and texts and phone messages. He listens well, and responds to requests. I'm just about to hire him for a fourth time, for installing replacement windows. I cannot recommend him too highly.

Nick completely remodeled the second story of our home to add a walk in closet and to reconstruct a bathroom (including correcting a lot of mistakes from the last remodel 30 years ago). It went perfectly, so we brought Nick and his crew back to do completely remodel two other bathrooms. Nick is a perfectionist, as are his crew members, and so he was not satisfied until it was perfect, and it is perfect. Again, there were a lot of mistakes to correct from the last remodel, and Nick efficiently and cost effectively took care of all of them. This is a 1909 Craftsman house which had its challenges, and we could not be more pleased. Absolutely perfect, exceptional, professional work. Rose City is the best. Nick and his crew are true craftspeople. They care about the quality of their work down to the last detail(s). Beginning in the bid process, Nick took the time to carefully go over every detail...made suggestions...or took ours...and helped guide us through the process from start to finish. We have an older house (circa 1924) with plenty of little quirks and unique elements; none of which fazed Rose City...they respected the pedigree of our home and doggedly made sure the new tile work, pluming, door, vanity, trim and painting was seamlessly integrated. We now have a beautiful new bathroom that looks and feels like it has always been part of this house...and all done with professionalism, politeness and consideration. If you are in the market for a contractor...Rose City is the best!

Nick and his crew at Rose City were absolutely a dream come true. Living in a 1910 craftsman has its challenges, and from design through final inspection, Nick handled every detail to perfection. My wife and I never thought that we would have such a perfect space in this house. There were lots of “surprises” from old work not done correctly, and Nick worked through all of them. We passed every inspection the first time. Nick recommended suppliers for tile and fixtures, and given their working relationship with him, they were extremely helpful. The price was right. The work was perfect. (Nick is incredible with details and even more demanding than I am about the quality of work. We are waiting for his schedule to clear so that he can do a complete renovation of two other bathrooms. Absolutely perfect experience in a significant size job. Thank you Nick and crew.

I could not be happier with Rose City Construction. The owner, Nick, supervises directly every aspect of the work, and he has a skilled team working for him. He is pleasant, punctual, cooperative, and the site is tidied and cleaned at the end of every work day. He participates actively in the design process, offering plenty of ideas about choices of material, style, and cost. He is extremely knowledgeable, and committed to telling the home-owner everything about the process, and about alternative ways to proceed with any aspect of the remodel. He shows genuine concern about the convenience of the house's occupants, and schedules work accordingly. He offers help with other house issues that crop up during construction. After he remodeled our first bathroom, I immediately asked him to do the second, and now that that's done, I've asked him to remodel my kitchen--that's how much confidence I have in him.

It went well. Nick is knowledgeable, patiently answered our questions, and had useful recommendations. We had a few different ideas about how to reconfigure the kitchen which he discussed with us and we're happy with how it turned out. He helped us pick out all of the major appliances (oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, etc.). The custom built cabinets look good and are very useful. Overall the work went quickly and according to schedule, and inspection was no problem. The crew were courteous and cleaned up after themselves every day, and were patient with our dogs who sometimes escaped out of the backyard and into the work space. We had a hot water leak (unrelated to the remodel; the heater was just old) and Nick was able to help with recommendations for repairs and a replacement heater). Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them for another job.

We recently wanted to remodel our hallway bathroom, so we called three contractors for consultation. This being our first remodel we really liked Rose City Construction because Nick had great design ideas and explained the details and process of the project. He also told us our house was built before 1980 and that we needed to have a lead and asbestos test done. He provided us a contact to a third party specializing in these tests. They found asbestos in the drywall, so Nick had an abatement company do the demo. Nick and his crew did an amazing job remodeling the bathroom. They pay close attention to detail and explain the entire process step by step. They took care of all permits and drawings for the project. They were there for all the inspections. Nick also helped with the shopping and provided us discounts on all the products. The project came out better then we expected. We will definitely be calling Rose City back to remodel our kitchen and our other bathroom early next year.

having previously contracted with Rose City for our master bedroom bathroom and closet remodel, we knew that Nick and his staff and expert sub-contractors (plumber, electrician, wood floor refinisher) would execute and furnish an A#1 product. Rose City first removed our tank water heater from our subterranean utility space, reviewed, renewed and repositioned our under-floor water delivery system, installed a tankless water heater and placed insulation on all pipes.. Next, the entire kitchen was gutted down to the Redwood structural support, reinforced (one wall area because of a prior incorrect rebuild) and rebuilt; old soffits on West and East walls removed and a custom cabinet system configured for us by Nick based on our needs and built to our requests for depth and width by the excellent cabinet maker sub-contractor. Nick advised and helped with the style and color of the cabinets, tile back splash, counters and wall colors. Considering how happy we are with the bathroom he did for us, we trusted in his eye and sense of style and proportion, both his and that of Gari, Rose City's super tile expert. The huge 8' long aluminum window was removed and replaced with a side-by-side wooden double sash window which fits with the other windows of our home. We wanted a kitchen that would harmonize with our early 1930,s home in style and feel and Nick and his crew delivered! The cost of service indicated is for the demolition, rebuild, cabinetry, electrical and plumbing work, wood floor refinishing, installation of cabinets and new window and new exterior door, painting (interior and exterior) and general labor required for this extensive project!

As expected from Rose City Construction - - exceptional service and craftmanship. Have used in the past and will use again.

We had Rose City do a complete kitchen remodel within original kitchen space that also includes our laundry. Electrical, some plumbing, removed soffits (their recommendation, and at first we weren't sure but so glad we did), cabinets, granite countertops, tile floor, tile backsplash, appliances. Nick is extremely good at communication and DETAILS. Very pleased at the level of detail attention they give to the project. They would make recommendations when a challenge came up, and always talk it over with us first. Very good at problem solving. Our kitchen has some angles that made the design a little challenging. They worked everything out and we are so please with the result. We only had some very minor change order items and the price was very fair. Nick really works with you to stay in budget. We did have to pay extra to have some asbestos removed prior to work being done but Rose City's pricing for the remodel itself was fair. Punctual, reliable, clean, excellent work! Would definitely use them again. Quality work, really nice guys, and they do things right.

Their workmanship is exceptional, and they always exceed our expectations, They are dependable, courteous and punctual. It is a pleasure to do business with this company.

It went well. It was our first time having work done at the house. We received good advice from Nick, and he did a good job of managing our expectations and guiding us through the process. The finished work looks very nice, was on-time and on-budget.

Rose City Construction was professional, clean, courteous, and always above board. The owner, Nick, communicates well and often, so I always knew what to expect and when. It's clear that he and his workers care about the quality and craftsmanship of their work, as evidenced by their suggestions regarding what to use/buy for the project, attention to detail, and their enthusiasm for a job well done. Without a doubt, these are the BEST contractors I've ever worked it. Aside from impeccable professionalism (showing up on time, never going over budget, painlessly navigating the permit process, offering great design guidance, and always keeping my home clean), they are also kind of courteous to my entire family (even my annoying yippie dog). We have come to think of them as part of our extended family!

Rose City Construction was a pleasure to work with on the bathroom remodel project, and I have subsequently worked with them upgrading the electrical in the house. I had initially contacted three contractors for the bathroom remodel project. During my initial visit with Nick Kalandjian of Rose City Construction I was immediately impressed with his professionalism, expertise, experience and attention to detail. While sharing my ideas about the remodeling project he would ask specific questions, offer design options and discuss possible issues or problems which may lie beneath and behind the walls. Impressed with the ease of communication and the detailed discussion of the project I felt comfortable to move forward. Throughout the project Nick shared timelines for all stages of the project, provided contractor discounts, and assisted in the selection/delivery of materials and fixtures. His team also provided continuous input into the design of the final project. The bathroom was completely demolished at which time we found a wall had not been reinforced properly when a smaller window had been installed earlier. This required a small change order although I was prepared since we had already discussed these possibilities. Nick and his crew were very respectful while working in the house and meticulous in cleaning up the work site before they left each day. I am extremely happy with the quality of the work Rose City Construction completed in the bathroom. They installed flooring, wall tiles, fixtures and cabinets, electrical and plumbing, sink, toilet and bathtub and painted the room. I plan on contracting with Rose City Construction again and I would be happy to recommend them to anyone considering a remodeling project.

The contractor and his crew were always on time and worked a full day; nothing done fast or "just to get it done." Attention to detail on tile setting, painting, plumbing, design and construction of new vanities. Always paid attention to cleanup each work day and total haul away of debris. All of the workmen were pleasant and put us at ease, considering that they were always coming in or out front door or through the garage, also paying attention and telling us if we had forgotten to put our house cat in one of the secure bedrooms! NIck, and his tile specialist, Gerri, helped us with wall and floor tile selection, telling us when a tile or accent trim does not work together, or because of the walls or dimensions of the room does not or cannot, work! We listened to them and the results are knockout fabulous!! NIck shepherd us through quartz countertop selection, once again, we got a designer-like result...NIck and his crew have done this so often they know how colors, styles and construction work best...and what, though it might suit someone now, after a few months or a year will make one realize "why did I think THAT would work or be practical After completion, one phone call or e-mail is all we needed to have NIck or his plumber return because of a glitch and give attention to minor problems. NIck specializes in bathrooms and kitchens; we intend to have him and his crew help us with our kitchen within the next year or two.

I highly recommend Rose City Construction for their professionalism and high quality work. The laundry room turned out great inside and out, it functions well, looks good, and the exterior matches the rest of the house. Nick is awesome, he took care of everything from making sure the plans were accurate, obtaining permits from the City of Pasadena, working with the city inspectors to ensure all work was up to code, and building everything right. Nick kept me in the loop on where he was with the work and made sure everything was done on time and on budget. Nick's employees and subcontractors were always on time and professional and kept the work areas clean. Even though my job was small, Nick took the time to make sure everything was done right. I will definitely call him again when I need work done on my house.

The project went smooth they where on time explained everything they where planing on doing for the week. Cleaned up everyday which was important because we where still living in the house during construction. Nick made it possible by contain off the rooms they worked in. We would definitely higher Rose City Construction.

Rose City Construction converted my very small, dark and outdated 1950s era kitchen to one that is bright and has increased plus ample cabinet storage and counter space. The result was achieved by removing a window and a redesign of the kitchen layout, all without increasing the size of the floor space. Every tradesman performed at the highest level of professionalism and every inspection passed without problem. The project lasted 3 months from start of demolition to final finish on August 4, 2016.. From general contractor to plumber, electrician, painter, tile setter, cabinet maker, and counter top maker, I was kept informed about the status and progress of the renovation. The line of communication with my contractor, Nick Kalandjian, was excellent and his crew of dedicated professionals was always willing to answer my questions by showing or explaining to me the how and why of a process. This has been a very positive and gratifying experience and I will be using Rose City Construction for future projects.

I was very impressed with Nick's professionalism, follow up, communication, and punctualness from the start. This is what made us sign with Rose City for our remodel. We wanted someone we could trust in our home and to get the job done with minimal disruption. This is exactly what we got. Nick and crew were so good at keeping things clean everyday. Each day his crew always showed up early or on time and were great at communicating the plan for each day or week. They were respectful of our home. The renovation felt like it was on autopilot with Nick managing the project. He was always available and responded to my questions quickly. He always explained the whole process to help guide our decisions. The renovation timeline was a little longer than we hoped but Nick was upfront about everything. we hired him anyway and so glad we did. No major issues and we're so happy with our new updated kitchen / family room.

Nick Kalandjian of Rose City Construction was a pleasure to work with on our bathroom re-model from our first meeting to our final inspection. I will use Rose City on any future re-model or house repair projects I have. And I will be happy to recommend Rose City to anyone looking for a home re-modeling recommendation.

Nick had been recommended by close friends of ours who we know to be very particular in their expectations and aesthetics. I'm glad we took their recommendation and called Nick to bid and subsequently do the work on our bathroom. From the beginning my wife and I were both impressed by Nick's clarity and specificity about all aspects of the job; price, time frame, recommendations of appliances and materials. As this was the first home remodel of any kind that my wife and I had experienced we found Nick's knowledge of the process helpful and reassuring. Nick did a great job of explaining why he used certain types of materials; copper piping, sub flooring, tiles and grout, etc., and why they priced out the way they did. In that respect I found Nick to be cost conscious but not cheap. That is, when choosing materials or appliances Nick was always clear about why he might use a certain material of higher cost - always at the service of durability and longevity - rather than a cheaper option that might have a shorter life span. 

Nick and his crew were punctual, methodical, polite, considerate, communicative and very tidy. The quality of all the work they did, installation of flooring, plumbing, electrical work, design, build, painting and installation of the vanity, application of the bathroom tile, installation of tub, toilet, sink and related fixtures was excellent. The work site was left clean and contained at the end of each work day. In fact, as part of the project cost, Nick hires a portable toilet for his crew to use during the course of the job in order to minimize their presence in other parts of the house.

Nick was up front from the beginning that his bid might not be the lowest we would receive for the bathroom, but he assured me that the quality of the workmanship would be high and that once the job was completed we would be able to enjoy our bathroom and not have any ongoing follow up issues to touch up, repair, or worry about down the road. Three months or so after the completion of the bathroom we have had no problems with any of the work done in the bathroom.

Throughout the project, we were kept apprised of any adjustments to the work estimate due to changes we requested or issues that were found during the demo of the original bathroom. For instance, we had to replace some sub standard piping in the bathroom from a previous remodel, before we owned the house, that was discovered when the floor was removed during the demo. 

Both my wife and I were completely satisfied with the work Rose City did for us. In fact Nick will be coming by the house next week to give me an estimate on a repair to a bay window in the front of our house.
