Peter Wilson Painting & Decorating
About us
Peter Wilson Painting and Decorating has been serving residents and businesses in the greater San Gabriel Valley area with outstanding quality painting, color consulting, and restoration of residences and commercial properties for over 30 years. Peter Wilson began his career as an artist, originally in film and animation production, and later as a sign painter and graphic designer. Specializing in homes and properties requiring an eye for detail and careful attention to heritage, his restoration and painting contracting work is a natural outgrowth of a passion for Southern California’s rich and diverse architectural legacy. The distinctive Peter Wilson Painting philosophy of quality, value and care begins with thorough preparation, the foundation of a superior paint job. Complete removal of all loose material and washing down the exterior is critically important, to prepare the surface for the correct priming system, ensure proper adhesion, and create the basis for a long lasting finish. Additional important details are previous finishes, architectural details, stucco and wood repair and restoration, ironwork and attention to the neighborhood’s integrity, through consideration of landscaping, colors and design of neighboring homes. Other areas of expertise include paint and varnish removal, stain mixing and matching, wood refinishing and cabinet finishing (including lacquer, varnish, polyurethane and alkyd-oil fine brush finishes), murals and graphics, custom glazes and color washes, copper and bronze verde finishes, Venetian plaster, wood graining, color matching, and color scheme design and layout. Please see our Portfolio Galleries for examples of our work. Use of quality materials, thorough preparation, clean neat work, and perhaps just as importantly, dependable and reliable service at reasonable cost, are the goals of Peter Wilson Painting and Decorating. "I told Mr. [Member Name Removed] when we started there was only so much I could do with his badly weathered siding especially on the driveway side. In addition, some existing vertical cuts had been made for plumbing access at some point. He said he understood and was okay with that. After he saw how it turned out, (what he shows in the pictures) we had a strong disagreement. I explained to him that the only way to make it look pristine would be to replace siding in affected areas. I did this at no additional cost to Mr. [Member Name Removed]. He bought as much board length as he wanted replaced, and I hired my carpenter to complete the install of the siding to match the rest of the house. So much great work went into this job, doors were stripped and refinished with state of the art finishes. Windows that were barely operational were restored to former glory. Wood epoxy was used to repair rot, old overspray was cleaned off the chimney and the front porch ceiling was cleaned up and a satin finish was added. I am still so proud of the finished product but don’t take my word for it, drive by and see for yourself at [Member Information Removed] Pasadena, CA. After we recovered from the siding incident everything seemed to be on track for another satisfied customer until the night before the work was finished, when [Member Name Removed] called me and accused me of damage to the screws of the door hardware. This was an existing problem but he was sure I caused it. The next day he was upset, but all touch up requests were completed and upon final inspection I was paid in full. I have full photo documentation of all phases of work to back up my claims. I have enjoyed 35 years of restoring Pasadena homes and I continue to be fully booked with approximately 70% repeat clients, 20% referral, and 10% who find me."
