Although most online reviews of Lincoln Ave Nursery are favorable, I had a really bad experience. We bought loose soil for 3 large raised beds, about 5 truckloads full. And we bought "walk on" mulch (that's what the package said) for the area around the beds. The mulch gave us all tiny hard to extract splinters every time we walked on it, including my 5 yr old (which was really a drag, as you can imagine). Then nothing would grow in the beds. We had planters right next to the beds, same sun, same water, with different soil, which did produce. I had a garden consultant come by, and she said that the soil we had bought from Lincoln was substandard, basically way too sandy to grow veggies. So I went back to complain, and all I got was, "Oh, you're supposed to buy amendments with that soil". When I told them that HAD someone told me to buy amendments, I would have (why would I spend all that time and money and NOT buy what is needed?!!), they said ALL their employees ALWAYS say what to buy. But we were not informed (incidentally, we have bought loose soil from other places for other gardens that have not needed any extra stuff, except of course our compost, and food, as per usual and expected). Even tho one of their employees had made a mistake, they just wouldn't consider it. They weren't even nice! No apology, no offer for maybe a discount to buy those amendments, no NOTHING. Then, when I told them about the splinters, they said ,"Oh, you can't walk on that barefoot". But it says "Walk on " mulch!!! Then they said I should take it up with the manufacturer! I have to say, their attitude was appalling, and I will never shop there again. Also, my son's school is nearby and they were about to purchase a whole bunch of stuff from the nursery for their farm, but I stopped that. At least that gives me some satisfaction.
