Handy Hand Service

He had hung a couple of ceiling fans for us a month earlier and it went ok. We had called another handyman service and they sent him. He was late for that appointment because he forgot his cell phone. That made me a little uneasy, but I like to give everyone a chance. He was a nice guy and he told us that he also did work on the side for himself and if we ever needed a handyman in the future, that he'd appreciate a call. Since we liked him, we called him when we needed the steps and door done. Well, he hired this other guy to do the work who did the deck ok, but it took him literally 3 entire days to shave off 1/4 inch of the door and put hinges on it to hang. We kept asking him if he was ok and did he need help. He said, "No." This guy told us 3 times that it would be just another 2 hours to finish. 23 hours later he finally finished with the door and now it sticks! The steps he put in are separating from each other and they look TERRIBLE! I have called Kevin 3 times and left a message saying that he should come and look at the result that this other guy that he hired did. He won't return my calls. At the end of all this, Kevin had asked if we wanted to knock off a couple of hundred dollars for the trouble. We said no, and paid him what he charged, and said, "No hard feelings" But then we see the steps cracking away and I am really upset that he is now ignoring our calls! He has since responded and done some repairs from the work that was done by his sub contractor. Kevin is actually conscientious, but we told him the sub he hired was the real problem. I will use him again, but only if he does the work himself.
