Went well, I returned to my regular vet with a diagnosis and treatment plan that worked well for my dog.

The price quoted was $2600. I had the surgery done for $600 by a general veteranairy surgeon. Being sent to this Specialty office office was like going to a cardiac transplant surgeon to get an EKG done. I am very angry at the vet who sent me there without any information. The price of the visit to give this condition a name was very high on top of the original vet office visit. She should have at least diagnosed the condition. I am sure this place is excellent but it should be an option for serious problems, not for a common condition, as I now have learned.

This was my first experience with the Eye Care for Animals. The doctor was very skilled and knowledgeable in her field. As a result of her expertise, my dog is able to see again. Her and her office were very nice and professional. They were very friendly and took the time to explain the whole process to me. I only paid $360 dollars for the whole procedure.

I went to Eye Care for Animals twice during October 2011. One day I noticed that out of the blue my cat was blinking and keeping her eye closed. I figured she scratched herself, or one of my other cats scratched her eye . . . or perhaps there was something in her eye. I called Eye Care for Animals and was able to get in right away. They are specialists and have everything needed to properly exam eyes. The doctor found a scratch and performed the appropriate treatment and prescribed medication. My cat healed very quickly and I went back to Eye Care for Animals for a recheck to make sure that my cat's eye had fully healed (which it had).
Dr. Konrade is nice and explains things well. Everyone that I've dealt with at Eye Care for Animals has a nice, professional demeanor.
As an aside, years ago I took my dog to Eye Care for Animals (before I was a member of Angie's List) and had an excellent experience at that time as well.
Some may feel that the prices are too high, but I have a different view . . . exams and treatments are going to be more expensive at a specialist's office than they are going to be at a general veterinarian's office . . . you are paying for the doctor's experience in their specialty and I've found that treatment of any kind (eyes, skin, teeth, etc.) always seems to be right on target and healing is quick when dealing with a specialist . . . I have no problem paying for expertise that can make my pet more comfortable as quickly as possible.

One of my dogs eyes were removed and now they are treating the other eye, so that hpefully that eye does not have to be removed.

Eye Care for Animals has a dish of tennis balls in the waiting room because toys calm dogs down. My dog was having a panic attack and they gave him a ball. Their office is clean and high class. They did a good job and I got an appointment right away. They were excellent, but really pricey.

I can't say whether my poodle's treatment could have been better or not. Getting her eyesight back for a time is helping her to adjust slowly to not being able to see, whereas her first experience at losing all eyesight at one time was very traumatic to her and she couldn't navigate at all. So it was a real blessing for her to get it back, even though it was temporary, giving her time to adjust.

He was very kind and friendly to both of us, gave her a thorough eye exam and explained exactly what he found in a easy to understand way. He took plenty of time with me and answered all my questions, he even drew a detailed picture of her eye on a white board. His recommendation was conservative which I was comfortable with and it cost less that I had imagined it would. She has not needed further treatment but I would not hesitate to take any of my animals to Dr. Lavach or to recommend him. He seems like a decent guy who genuinely likes animals and thier owners. The staff were very nice as well.
