His estimate was accurate and fair. The car was repaired also with a test drive exactly as promised. The mechanics are all former BMW dealer emplyees. The shop is spotless. There are no frills.
By that I mean no coffee bar, waiting room or big screens. To me thats a good thing because none of those frills have anything to do with fixing cars. Frills add overhead which means more cost to you and me. I highly recommend them.

My 2001 325i had been having problems on and off with the a/c. The a/c would appear to be on per the control panel, but no air would come out of the vents. The problem was intermittent for years, so I just ignored the issue. Of course, during a typical LA heat wave with consecutive days of 90 degree heat in September, the a/c finally decided to shut down and I could ignore the problem no longer.
I called DTM Auto Salon and described the problem to Eddie. He said that it was likely the air flow regulator (not sure if I'm recalling the technical term correctly), and that was an easy fix which should take about an hour. If that was not the problem, then it might be a computer issue which would be more costly. I was able to bring it in the next morning around 10:00 a.m. Eddie took the car in, said they would diagnose the problem and let me know what it was. I also mentioned that my left turn signal light probably needed to be replaced. While they were diagnosing the problem, they gave me a ride to Starbucks around the corner so I could get coffee and do some work on my laptop while waiting. After being at the Starbucks for about 15 minutes, I received a call from Eddie saying it was in fact the air flow regulator and they could fix it in about an hour. No more than an hour later, I got a call stating the work was done and someone would come pick me up in 5 minutes.
Once I got back to the shop, the car was ready to go. Eddie advised me that the left turn signal bulb was fine, but the connection to the actual bulb was burnt and needed to be replaced. However, he did not pressure me into replacing it on the spot and I said I would be back when I had more time/money to replace it. The rear license plate mount was also loose, but Eddie said I could probably find the part cheaper online if I bought it myself instead of ordering it through them.
I also asked Eddie if there was anything on the vehicle I should be concerned about since it is 11 years old. He told me not worry, that the car was in good condition and just bring it back for regular oil changes and inspections. I've been to many BMW repair shops over the years, including several in the Bay Area and Washington, DC, and I've had places employ scare tactics to try to get me to pay for unnecessary repairs. DTM is the real deal. They know their BMW's and do quality work without trying to trick you into fixing things that do not actually need fixing.

I ended up paying less than half of what the dealership wanted for the service. It was standard upgrades and repairs. It is better than new after taking it to them. They did really amazing work and they are super cool guys. Everything was perfect. I was invited to sit down and watch them work. I could trust exactly what they told me the car needed because I already knew. I've used them before. They are honest and legit. Everybody there is really young. It is a group of young auto mechanics. The shop is very clean. They communicate well. They would tell me if I didn't need to have something done instead of going ahead and changing a part that didn't need to be done. They responded instantly. The price was super good.
