"This client choose a cabinet from a factory that I do not deal with anymore (she brought a door sample in) . I told her before her purchase that this factory is not a good factory for many reasons... However, she was extremely persistent at selecting this door style from this factory. On the day the cabinets arrived to her job site, she was not happy with the product. I offered her three times to return the cabinets and exchange for a new style. She declined because she felt it would take a long time to do the return & exchange. I told her it would only take two business days. I was clear about this and she understood it would only cause a two day delay. We listened to her and proceeded with the cabinet install. Of course she was not happy after we completed the install - which we warned her about. After discussing options on how to possibly improve the look of the cabinets, we decided to insert skin panels inside the cabinet boxes, covering up the standard finish she was not happy about. For the exterior of the cabinets we covered it up with fake doors - this was an expensive costs that we paid for, the homeowner did not. This solved the problem and she was happy with the cabinets - Her & [Member Name Removed] do not owe me a balance, they paid their balance since the job was complete. I'm in awe, that this client still gave us a 1 star rating. We went above and beyond for this client. According to her humble husband [Member Name Removed], [Member Name Removed], the reviewer has a lot of serious personal & health issues going on her life - We believe this is why she is reviewing us in such a harsh frustration tone. There really isn't anything else I could have possibly completed to make this customer happy. I am sorry you feel this way [Member Name Removed], but please know your kitchen is beautiful, your husband [Member Name Removed], completely agreed with us. To whom this may concern, we'd be happy to refer you over to her Husband [Member Name Removed], who is much more understanding than his wife [Member Name Removed].Sorry again [Member Name Removed], please be happy, thank you."
The demolition guy accidentally pulled a plug out of the wall and disconnected a couple of other wires. I mentioned the dead plugs and he told me the counter installation guys would take care of it. Then the counter arrived. They had used a flexible template for the one-slab construction I wanted and that didn't account for the requirements of installing a big slab in a small kitchen. They said they would have to cut it. The single slab cost almost twice what cut pieces would have cost. I called the owner and said I was not paying for a single-slab installation that had to be cut because they had used a flexible template. He said that it was not his fault or his workers fault; I was liable for the full cost.
Fortunately the installation guys figured out a way to get it in. But they forgot about the electrical problem and left without telling me they were done. Next morning I find out the electrical problem extends to the water heater. Cold shower. Then I find that either the demo guy or the installation guys had whacked the dishwasher and it couldn't be opened and one of them had sealed a drawer shut. I call Greg, the owner, again. No response by 9:00am. So I call again and get his assistant, Dorothy. She promises that the guy doing the backsplash, Charlie, can fix all these problems.
Charlie is amazing; he fixes everything. He spends an entire day fixing what the other guys broke. And he does a beautiful backsplash! If it wasn't for Charlie, this whole thing would have turned out very badly.
Greg calls me (home and cell) as soon as he finds out it's all done and he's ready to settle the bill. Literally, 'sorry about the problems, when can pay me the rest of the money?" Ugh.
"Hi [member name removed], Thanks for your review. I am sorry about the schedule delay, that was completely my fault. There was miscommunication between me and Dorothy (sales assistant) . I take full responsibility, thank you for being easy going and letting me reschedule. We have been so busy, I simply made a mistake in the schedule. I would like to inform you and inform anyone who is reading this, that during demo, sometimes problems arise. When you demo an old counter top, sometimes the counter top demo effects areas around it such as electrical outlets, plumbing parts, drywall, paint work. This is normal & is the nature of demo, sometimes this happens, sometimes it does not. Demo is very difficult to do. Usually we are not responsible for things that happen during demo (we don't charge for certain items), as its just part of the demo and part of the job. Demo effects a lot of items in the kitchen thats not part of the work you paid for. This is stated on term # 4 which we went over during your deposit/contract signing. Sometimes things don't go wrong, but sometimes they do. In any case we still helped you fixed your issues. We are just responsible for what is on the contract. Also, [member name removed] it is within my right to ask for balance due when the job is complete, we finished the work, we like to collect payment within a couple days of the finished work. I did not ask for payment when the work was not finished. Enjoy your counter tops and back splash & thank you for your business."
