Awful, nightmare. Started this July 2021, broken promises, refusal to honor warranty, unprofessional, energy production promised but unmet. Told that panels would cover my year's electricity, in full. Only covers 1/2 to 2/3. Energy production suddenly drops by 50%. Call Ameco, given excuses, useless info, refuses repeated requests to send out tech to examine, resolve. Told nope, but we can sell you more panels. Feel totally ripped off, abandoned. Took so long to install, started this July, installed end of Dec. Their main tech speaks nary a word of English, so never knew what was happening. The "project manager" never even came to my house. When finally installed and ready to activate, they made me, disabled guy w/ cane, with no knowledge of this stuff, go out, push buttons, levers, etc, and of course, didn't work properly. So unprofessional. Now I'm screwed, paying monthly on $29,000 loan for about 15 yrs, with a system that isn't working and Ameco has basically told me to go screw myself. 40 year warranty useless. Heartless. Cruel.

I was impressed with the thorough manner in suggesting options, in estimates for those options, and in the work itself when it came to installation. I also appreciate the follow-up and the willingness to make changes and improvements should circumstances change. Service was friendly, on time, and professional.

Ameco took care of everything for my solar panel installation. From contacting the electric company and getting permits to matching the existing stucco and paint when repairing the wall after the electrical panel installation. I was kept up to date the whole time. Someone came out to examine the house. They drew up plans for me to review. After pulling permits (was given status updates during the wait), the installation was scheduled. Crew came out, let me know what they were going to do. Did the solar panel and electric panel installation that day. I think they ran into some unexpected issues with the electric panel but the electricians stayed really late to get everything taken care of so we wouldn't be without power that night. And then scheduled and the final inspection and walked me through how to use the system. We were very appreciative of there attention paid to the small things like the matching of the paint and their cleanup (no mess, boxes, tiles. they even swept up everything and hauled it all away). And were very quick to address to come out and concerns we had after the installation. Price wise they were comparable to other bids i got. Would use them again.

Ameco Solar was very prompt in placing my 51 solar panels. The system works great and has been saving me a lot of money. Very good experience. Anytime I wanted information on anything, they have returned my call quickly and have been very informative. Would definitely recommend it to a friend and use them again in the future. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a large solar installation with state-of-the-art backup power.

This is an amendment to my 5 star recommendation written in 2015. The firm continued to provide excellent service for 3 more years. Recently I needed help when the reporting system failed to report my data via the web. I followed all the DIY troubleshooting steps and they did not solve the problem. Multiple calls to the office, promises of a response, and repeatedly nothing. They simply abandoned me, to my surprise. I wonder what happened to cause such a dramatic collapse in service quality. I have stopped recommending AMECO.

I used this company before to install solar panels as well as change a part of my roof where I want them installed. As expected, Ameco Solar did their best to make sure that we have the most awesome experience. They took their time explaining what they are doing. They worked long hours to make sure the job got done. That's why we are extremely pleased with the outcome of their work. Communication was also excellent, the staff was amazing. This company is just the best!

Ameco did the job cleanly, efficiently and on-time. In the 3 years since they installed the owner & his staff quickly solved each of our minor problems. I'm reviewing now because we can see how well the system has done. They predicted $3690/year in savings and 13.9 MWH generated. We've done even better: averaging 15 MWH and almost $4000 annual savings. THIS IS THE COMPANY TO USE for great support and truthful cost accounting.

Do not do business with Ameco Solar! They will install your system, take your money, and walk away from the warranty when you system crashes and fails. Ameco Solar installed my system 5 years ago (Summer of 2013). Anything can break, so one of the key factors for me was they provided in a contract a warranty of 20 years on the panels and 10 years for all other components. As with most modern solar system, they sold me a "power manager" to be able to monitor the production of each panel individually via an internet connection. The internet connection and monitoring failed months ago, and now the entire power manager has failed. The current status of my system is that my power manager has completely failed. Ameco's employees stopped by and confirmed that. Meaning, I have no ability to monitor my panels individually or system as a whole. I don't know if one panel has failed, or all of the panels are failing, and I have no idea how much power my system is producing (if any). Ameco Solar has told me in an email that they won't fix my system or honor my warranty. My contract with Ameco says, "for ten years, Ameco Solar Inc. warranties your solar system for repair or replacement," yet they are refusing to fix it or even return my phone calls or answer my email. My next step is hire another solar contractor to fix my system and sue Ameco Solar in court. Not good. Don't do business with Ameco Solar. I will update this if the situation changes, but let me save you some trouble. Do not buy anything from Ameco Solar.
Response from AMECO Solar & Roofing
"We installed this solar electric system using micro-inverters by SolarBridge, a firm that was subsequently acquired by SunPower Corporation. SunPower had recently simply ceased providing the monitoring device, called a "power manager," a proprietary product. Although the performance monitor had failed, we had, in many service calls, shown that the system itself was still producing power. We finally located, purchased & installed the device that would 'pair' with the solar panels. During these few months without the monitor, the system continued to produce power, but it has proven to us once again that we must be careful in our choices of vendor, for our own sake and that of our customers. There is not much to add, other than to say that we take our customers' needs seriously and follow through to the best of our ability. In this case, support for this device evaporated and it took us many weeks to locate one from a third party. Over this period communications became strained and misunderstandings resulted because I was not able to respond quickly enough."

It was a great experience with Ameco. They have been very helpful throughout the original process on our current home and remain that way with any questions we have regarding installation of more panels for an electric vehicle charging station.

Perfect. Physical installation of 14 panels, inverter, and other equipment too 2.5 days. It then took about a month in total for LA City building inspection, LA DWP inspection, and installation by LA DWP of the net solar meter.

Their choices and the way they approached it was more business like. This company ran the whole process and went up to my roof to make sure it was feasible, they are the only company that went up to the roof, measured and gave me options. They are not like other companies that just want to sell you. They kept me informed, they let me know the process and who was coming out and doing the work. They gave me options. I am very satisfied and happy with their approach. You have to do your comparision shopping but I think they are much more professional. I would recommend them.

John Allen explained all we needed to know about Solar Systems and designed a good system for us.
All work was done as promised. Showed up on time and cleaned up afterwards. Ameco coordinated with our roofing contractor so he could insure everything was water tight.
The system has performed as promised. I have yet to pay for electricity and hopefully will receive cash back at the end of a year.

The system was designed based on my last 12 months usage. It has performed exactly as promised. I have not had to pay an electric bill since installation. Look forward to one year of usage and hopefully a payment from SCE for excess generation.
The installation went smoothly. Amoco worked with my roofers who were installing a roof at the same time. Workers showed up on time. Cleaned up afterwards. I was completely satisfied.

Their service turned out beautifully. Their service was very good. The man in charge of the installation came to our house and explained the details of it very clearly. We knew exactly what we were getting. He provided a very good explanation of its impact on our electric bill and offered to help us read our next electric bill so we would understand the billing. The people who installed it, including the person who was in charge of that, was very capable. The electrical work was done beautifully and very neatly with no mess or anything. It looks great and was done really very well. All of the inspectors thought so. They did it just when they said they were going to do it. They showed up early in them morning and were finished by late in the afternoon, I think.  They were competitive, but we not the last expensive way to go. It was a reasonable price for the quality of the work.

We found our general dealings with Ameco to be very pleasant. Our initial sales contact was with Todd Fanady and he is very knowledgeable and never applied any pressure to buy or go with him. Communication broke down a little once we signed the contract. We had to initiate contact with the lead system engineer multiple times to feel like we were being kept in the loop. We were told to expect a call for the initial site survey by the work crew but one day they just showed up and it wasn't the most convenient of days. Nonetheless things worked out fine. They were very polite and efficient. I was particularly pleased that they offered to take my house paint and paint the electrical conduit to match my house. We've had a couple of other solar system installs in the neighborhood and all of them have raw metallic conduit running down from the roof. It looks much nicer to have it painted.
Ameco also provides cost/benefit analysis of the system. I was a bit skeptical of that since it assumed a 6% annual increase in the price of electricity. I ran my own ROI assuming 3% annual price increases and still decided to proceed. Recently we received information from SCE that this year's price increase will be 8%!
The installation went very smoothly. The installation crew is very polite and professional and were a pleasure to have around. They were very careful on our roof and the install was completed in 2 days. I was pleased with the quality of the work done.  We needed a few more days to get the inspections and then several weeks before SCE gave us the permission to operate letter. This is not an undertaking for the impatient. We started the process at the end of February, signed a contract on March 7 and turned on the system in Mid May.
The only aspect of working with Ameco I didn't like was the "Permits and Fees" section. The wording here is somewhat open and I was surprised by a $350 bill to an engineering firm. The contract estimated these fees but the actual fees came in about $120 higher. That said, our final invoice was actually slightly less than what was stated in the contract. i don't want to go into details but it boils down to generosity on the part of Ameco. I would just encourage you to ask questions about this section and understand that you're paying for more than building and fire inspections and fees here.
We're in the second month of operation and the system is exceeding my expectations. May and June are of course ideal months for solar energy production. Our SCE estimate during the May  billing cycle after three days with no solar was for a $300 bill. At end end of the month the actual billed amount was $2.28. Not bad for a system designed for 57% of our energy needs. Many things conspired to make May an exceptional month including cooler weather after the start of the month and very little cloud cover.
