bidding process was easy. they matched competing price. they gave detailed product information. workers were prompt and finished the installation on time. they promised to return when house was finished to calibrate and test door - this will be next week.

Very disappointed. Signed up for a service call for $40. My husband was home when they came to work. He told them what we wanted. He says that after that he did not talk to them until they were ready to leave. According to the invoice, they replaced the springs, lubricated the hinges and adjusted switches. Bottom line, they disconnected the automatic part of the garage door opener. Now it needs to be manually opened. Very heavy, doesn't stay up well. Cost $405, less a $40 Angie's list discount, for a total of $365.00. Estimate to actually fix the automatic door opener - another $625.00. - We are still waiting to make this final repair - will not do it with United. I believe I can have had a new door installed for less. Definitely wouldn't recommend them.

Whoever schedule your call in our office should had explained what the Service Call coupon included, I apologies if we did not do that. We normally have a Service Call fee of $ 75, which includes the trip to your home and troubleshooting issue. We offer the $ 40 on Angie's list for customers to avoid paying the full price of $75. Once we find out what the issue is we should have explained to you what the work needed was and if you approved cost and labor we should have done the job if you did not approve parts and labor we would leave estimate with you and we would go out separate ways. We apologies for not clarifying our process with you. If in the future you need service on a garage door or gate we are willing to schedule a Free Service Call Appointment to make up for you bad experience a few years back. The technician's were courteous and attentive, providing relatively clear answers to questions. There was some up-selling, but no pressure was used--always a plus in our book. The door works fine now and the garage was left exactly as it was before they arrived. I wish they responded to my request faster (5 days is a long time to have to manually close your garage door), but the service and follow through once completed was top-notch.

They did a great job. On time and installation was perfect. We've used the door a few times today and it operates quietly and smoothly, and looks so much better then our beaten up old door.
In the morning we had a miscommunication regarding thegarage door opener, however, they were very professional in the way they handled the situation, which we greatly appreciate.
I have a friend who asked who I using for my door and I told her I would tell her after the installation. I sent her an email a little while ago referring her to the company.

The folks at United Garage Door were very responsive. I got my original quote from them in February 2012 when I was getting ready to remodel my garage. The project got put on hold due to some unexpected issues not related to the door, so as a result I wasn't ready to have the door installed unit October of 2012.
After providing me with a bid in February, the folks at United called me to follow-up, at which point I explained to them that the project had been delayed. The were very polite and asked me when I thought I might be ready. Over the course of the next 8 months they called several times just to check in with me to see how things were progressing. I was impressed by this and with the fact that they seem to understand how to strike the right balance between price and quality, so when I was actually ready to do the work, they were on the top of my list.
When it came time to actually do the install, I liked it that they were willing to address my concerns about the tight fit on the south side of my garage by sending out one of their guys to double check the measurements before they placed the order for the door. They were also very accommodating towards working with my drywall contractor who was onsite the day of the door install to take care of the drywall finishing in the areas where the old door tracks were pulled down and replaced with the new door tracks.
My only two small issues with the job were 1) that the foreman's English was passable, but a little weak which made communicating a little more challenging and 2) that when the stock bottom edge door gasket showed a gap, the Foreman charged me $100 for an over sized gasket which better filled gap. This fixed the problem, but in hindsight the price of this gasket seems a little steep which is why I decided to give them a and quot;Band quot; for price instead of an and quot;Aand quot;.
Overall, I am a really pleased with the door. The folks at United did a really super job on the track installation - everything looks straight and feels solid. The garage door goes up and down nicely with no binding and best of all it looks terrific. I would definitely use United again in the future.

They performed service but charged me more than twice the value of the coupon. I paid over $200 to have the garage door serviced. The gentleman was also very unpleasant to work with.

Our normal service call fee is $75 to troubleshoot the issue on your garage door if you decide to do which ever work needs to be done to repair the garage door we credit back the $75 given to us for the service call. In your case we did the same. We credit back the $40 you payed for the service call but the other work that needed to be done had to be charge. Knowing you were a Angie List customer we charged you a fraction of what we would charge our regular customers. Once again I apologies for this bad experience."

I wanted a garage door with insulation. When you go outside to the garage and it's a hot day, you don't feel the heat in the garage. The insulation also helps with the sound as well. The guy started checking how it closes and it was closing a little rough so he adjusted it. The door goes down and touches the cement slowly and quietly. He checked the rollers, they were a little worn. Checked the spring and the door. They were nice people to work with.

Not very well... After having given United my request, I was totally surprised, after having paid $400 for the removal of the two doors, and getting proposals for the two new 7 foot high doors. It was clear that United had NO intention of using hardly ANY of the primary parts from the relatively new doors they just uninstalled. The proposal bids for the new doors were basically priced as if they were supplying all NEW material items.
I would have expected the United representative to have clearly stated that the existing doors would be of little value in preserving. Basically, I paid $400 for two carefully uninstalled doors that I will now throw into the trash. My current contractor was amazed when I explained I had paid $400 for the uninstall. The contractor stated they remove them all the time and would have just included that for and quot;freeand quot; in the door height modification.
Well United is not getting my business for the two new doors and I did upgrade to two higher quality doors and automatic door opener. United got $400 for a useless uninstall and lost over $2000 in new business, plus any friends that I can now refer to a better company.

We agree with your main complain about our representative not being clear enough and informing you that what you were requesting was going to cost more money. The price given to your contractor when the first doors were installed did not include going back a few months later to remove the same doors again that is why we had to charge you to go back and remove those doors. Since the header had change your current sections and hardware could not be re-use that is why we quoted you for two whole new doors because the section sizes had to change so did the hardware and springs. We could not use any of the materials from the doors that we had installed a few months back and frankly that is not our fault. We tried to go the least expensive route with you but it was not enough. Once again I apologies for this bad experience."

These guys were great! When I asked for the estimate to replace my old garage door and opener they were able to come out quickly. They brought samples to show me, and left me brochures on the door and opener. They were not the lowest price but even before the estimator left, he said if I get a better price, I should call and they would beat it. Well I had 4 estimates and United was the only company where the gentlemen that did the estimate called me back to see if I had questions and to again repeat the offer to beat the others. The others never gave that level of service. They came, gave me an estimate, and said let us know. One didn't even get me the estimate for three days. Not a good impression!
Well I called them and sure enough they beat the lowest price. I was already leaning their way because of the customer service, but getting a better price sure sweetened the experience. They came out within three days of me hiring them and the guys installing the system could not have been nicer. They made sure everything was cleaned up when they were done. They even swept my garage for me!!! United has some really good people and that makes this company 5 stars in my book. I will recommend them to everyone I know.

I called for an initial estimate a couple of weeks back. I requested to options, one on the low end and the other on the high end so that I could establish a range. I asked for the estimate to be itemized so that I could see the labor vs materials costs. The estimates were provided to me within 24 hours. The gentlement who handled the phone answered a slew of questions I had around brands and their strengths and weakness...very helpful. We scheduled a in-home visit for measurements. The team showed up on time and again, explained to me the differences between two doors I was considering. I told them I wanted to preserve as much headroom as possible and they explained to me how we could achieve this (with a higher radius arch). They also threw in headvy duty hardware and a keypad in the estimate at no additional cost. On the scheduled install date, the team of 2 arrived within the two hour window we had agreed to. They called 30 minutes prior to their arrival to give me the specific time they would be there. The install took about 3 hours and the team stepped me through the usage of the unit and explained maintenance requirements. They were very professional. All in all, they were prompt, professional and honest. They were very eager to please and clear about their desire to achieve a positive review in exchange for excellent work. They were excellent.

Yesterday my automatic garage door would not respond correctly. It would go back up after I wanted it down and closed. I called United Garage Doors and was told they could come in the morning between 9AM and 11AM. At 9:45AM Carlos arrived and fixed the problem in about 1/2 hour. I am pleased with him and his work.

Miguel came within the 2 hr time period of the appt, was very professional and installed the liftmaster. The old genie was not closing properly, it would get stuck 1/3rd of the way down. Last Monday when we had the heatwave our electricity was out and I tried to open the door manually. I could not get it to open, I called and the owner Carlos came out the next evening at 8PM, accomodating my work schedule and the fact that I had to have wrist surgery the next day. Turns out I did not pull the manual release hard enough, and the door was operating properly. He was very gracious about having come out for no reason really and did not charge me for an emergency call.

The service person arrived perhaps an hour after my call. He looked into the keypad problem and determined that the problem was actually with the sensor within the motor unit. I chose not to purchase a new motor unit since the remote works fine. He serviced the door and tracks, and I bought an additional remote.
