I had already had a recent negative experience with a locksmith inflating prices, so I was careful to read yahoo reviews (I didn't have Angie's list at the time), and found that this company had all good reviews, so I called them and explained what we needed: We just moved into a new condo and needed to have a new lock installed on our mailbox (we live in a condo and there is a USPS issued mailbox for each resident). The person I spoke with on the phone was friendly and polite and indicated that she was completely familiar with what we needed to have done and that it wouldn't cost more than $45. A few minutes after I got off the phone with her, I got a call from the locksmith who would be working with us. Rather than parking on the street and walking back to the mailbox (approximately 75 feet), he insisted that I open the driveway gate so that he could park illegally in front of the dumpster, which was closer (there is no guest or contractor parking available close to our unit, but there is ample street parking). When he followed me to the mailbox, he stopped about 5 feet away and announced that it had to be drilled out and replaced and the cost would be $195. My husband then joined the conversation and managed to 'talk the contractor down' to about $79, cash...literally all of the cash we had on hand. After about ten minutes of work, we paid him and he left. In retrospect, I would have simply sent him away and called around for a more reputable company, but we were in the middle of moving in and didn't have time or energy to devote to it, however, we will never call this company again and do not recommend anyone else call this company.
Description of Work: Lock on mailbox was drilled out and replaced with a new lock (with two keys).
