Neighborhood Tech Support

When I called back after dropping it off, I was told they could not get my computer to start, but that they were still trying. I informed them it was working until just minutes before when I unplugged it and brought it to their shop. I heard nothing more until the next morning when I called and was told they still had not been able to start my computer. They tried to get me to buy a new computer or a used computer from them even though they had no clue about the age, functionality or memory of my Dell computer. I refused. They said they could install a new power supply to get my computer started and finally begin what they had committed to doing, replace Windows XP, but that it could take several more days. They tried again to persuade me to buy a new or used computer from them. I went there and they said they had just replaced the power source connection with a used one they took from a used computer and charged me $70. I paid under protest and left with my computer and will have another tech provider replace Windows XP to avoid any further bait and switch problems.

The only reason they didn't get straight and quot;Aand quot; is because there was one thing he couldn't quite figure out, and he promised me he'd research and get back to me. I would have been willing to pay for follow up as well, but the technician never got back to me. Finally solved the issue with purchasing the correct wire -- just wasn't something he had in his portable bag of tricks.
It was a new PC Windows 8 tablet -- not a lot of folks have experience with yet, but he was willing to jump in and figure it out. Overall very good experience.
I am a self-employed business owner without IT support. This was definetly worth the investment.

Julien figured out how to clean up the system. I sat with him and he told me what he was doing and he gave me suggestions for the future. I have had no problems with my computer since his visit.

I first found Neighborhood Tech when looking for new computer service organization that could be trusted with our home-office computers and network for site visits or in-shop repairs. We were in the process of upgrading and re-designing our home-office network and equipment. We had many things in place at the time of the tech’s first visit, but we had been experiencing frustrating glitches, crashes, network communication and driver problems that were interfering with our work and important deadlines.
Our experience with Neighborhood Tech Support has been outstanding from beginning to end. They are, in the area of home and business technical support services, one of the best we have used and we have used several over the years. I felt from the very first call like a priority customer. Over many issues and over many months, they have been consistently responsive, prompt, patient, and extremely knowledgeable. Rob the owner, and Brad the tech specialist who services our area, have always come through for us when we were in a bind during a difficult time with complex issues to resolve.
As with any tech service, you have to listen well, learn the issues, and participate in the decisions to get the best results. No matter how talented the tech, there are issues that have to do with Windows or computer limitations, corruption of software or failing hardware. There are times when reconfiguration or replacement of certain wiring, software, or hardware will be necessary. We had such issues at a point but I could always count on Neighborhood Tech to give us the best and most cost-effective advice, do the work in record time with a minimum of trouble and with the result of maximum performance. Not only that, but any remaining issues that cropped up were resolved quickly and at reasonable cost. I would confidently recommend Neighborhood Tech to anyone.

This is probably the third time I have used the service over the past several years. Each time the technician has been professional, knowledgeable, good at trouble shooting, willing to answer lots of questions, willing to keep working to make sure all the details are done correctly. Very reasonable price given that I live in the Santa Cruz mountains about 3 miles from highway 17. They charge 150 per hour on site with no extra for travel.
