Franz Termite Control

All went as well as could be expected, except I thought the charges for the termite treatment, excluding the fumigation, were very high. Also, we live in a two family house and only did this work because the 2nd family living on the other side of the house was selling their half. We would have preferred hiring a company that did not use fumigation for termite treatment, but, in the end, were not able to control this decision.

The inspector arrived on time, listened to us to understand that we had called following the siting of a very large swarm of subterranean termites on an unusually warm day following a good rain.
Our inspector asked lots of appropriate questions, explaining all the while what he was looking for and what we should know about spotting signs of subterranean and dry termites. He inspected the garage, under the house, and inside cupboards, cabinets and all areas of the house - including plumbing fixtures.
The inspection and discussions took approximately an hour, at the end of which we learned that the house did not show any signs of active termite behavior. We were told what to look for, and it was suggested that we schedule another site survey in about 3 years - so long as we've not seen any termites or signs of activity in the interim.
The inspector did not think we should do preventative treatment, as termites abound in the general area, and treatment only lasts for so long, and might miss the arrival of a new colony after any treatment had expired.
The peace of mind was worth the cost. I would also note that several of our neighbors (including a realtor for our 'hood) recommended Franz, and they were right!

I had Franz termite do an inspection in 2010 when we rebuilt a back deck. I was worried there might be termite activity under the deck and when the old deck was torn out, I called for an inspection. This inspection indicated old damage, but nothing active. While he was present he did the rest of the house and found some activity in the garage. The rest was clear.This first inspection was carefully done and cost about $350 for the report. I decided not to do anything, since it was only in the outer edge of the garage.two years latter (December of 2011) we saw dropping evidence in the bedroom from a beam. I called Franz back and they confirmed a 3rd spot. We decided to tent although a local treatment was offerred. But I said since we had evidence to two locations, what was the probability there were not more, especially since it had been 30 years.So we tented. Franze uses a subcontractor (name i forgot) but they were excellent and very reasonable. I got a second bid that was 50% higher than Franze. Tenting is not fun. It is normally done when you have moved out and someone else is moving in. But in our case, we just left for 3 days. But packing up the food, taking care of the cats, etc. It is a mess. But in the end all is well. The termites are gone and I would work with Franz again.

They were very clean and took us a lot of time to show us where the termites were in the garage and gave us an overview of the damage. They were very patient. All of the things they moved in order to access the area affected by termites was replaced carefully. They are very good and very reasonably priced.

I am very happy with their warranty. I am very happy with their work.

They said it would last a year. It did not last. They were not very prompt about getting out to my home.

He came out a second time to re-treat because I still found bugs. I would recommend them.

Since I will be out of town for a while this story will be continued.

It was good working with Franz Termite Control Company. I was happy with what they did. I like the fact that they guarantee their work and it holds true for one year. So, when they came out the second time, they didn’t charge me. I have lot of termites in my house, so that was helpful. They were very professional. They were very prompt. They did their work well. They just impressed me.

We'd noticed insect "wings" and ant-like insects in various rooms in the house and wondered if we had termites. I phoned Franz for an inspection. Katie, who answered the phone, was very friendly and efficient. Frank, the inspector, came a week later, as scheduled, exactly on time. He made a careful inspection inside, outside and in the crawl space. He answered all of our questions and seemed knowledgable Our cost was reduced from $340 to $290 with an Angie's List coupon.

They were very good. They were very professional, prompt and seemed to be very thorough which I felt for this time of work was necessary. We spent $280 and that was part of a contract, so that they would come again and do another inspection and guarantee the work.

Franz was prompt and professional - we needed fumigation services ASAP as we were closing on a home, and wanted to fumigate before we moved everything in. They were right on the estimate, worked with our timing, and managed to complete the fumigation without harming any of the landscaping close to the house!

They were very good. They were on time. They were courteous. They seemed to know what they were doing. They took a long time to do it. I cannot compare the prices because I don’t have anything to compare it with; I have no basis for comparison. Considering the amount of time they spent and the way they did the work, the price was right. Some services are grossly overpriced. I am a layman trying to judge the quality of work in an area where I have no real knowledge or expertise. I think the quality was good. They were right there.

They were responsive when I called. Some of the other firms took forever to get back to us. They scheduled an appointment within a reasonable amount of time. They came out and spent a few hours in the rain wandering around the house, looking at it. It was about what I expected it to be. The inspection cost seemed reasonable. They gave me write-up for the stuff that they could do contractual work on. There were more issues in the write up than what we discussed while wandering in the rain. Further, some of the prices were higher than I expected. However, I have not authorized any of the additional work. The report was more for my information. The inspection was fine. They were on time.
