We just joined Angie's List and had used Dave's Plumbing prior to becoming a member.
He replaced a personal shower hose and we asked him to fix a leaking faucet.  He was not the friendliest person. He said that he did not accept credits cards.  We are seniors and he did not offer a senior discount. On his company information, Angie's List indicates  that Daves Plumbing accepts credit cards and offers a senior discount.  Two days after his visit, the faucet was leaking again.  We left messages on his voice mail and never received a call back.i

The serviceman arrived on time and immediately did the work. He said if snaking did not work he would have to remove the toilet and we would have to pay the hourly rate. Fortunately, that was not necessary.

Dave was able to provide the expertise in choosing the right product - he knows from experience the makes and models that are low-maintenance and high-maintenance. His guys came in and did the work, showed up promptly, protected the work area, installed new supply lines, and left the place looking even better than when they found it. The price was reasonable, and I like working with a contractor who is local.

I had a separate occasion to call Dave when a pipe burst in my brother's house - he drove over immediately even though it was a weekend and helped mitigate the crisis. I am planning a house remodel which will add 2 bathrooms and a kitchen remodel - Dave is at the top of my list of potential plumbing contractors.

I noticed a negative review on this board, which prompted me to write this review. I have no idea what the story is there, but it bears no resemblance to my positive experience. I know at least 2 other people who have also had work done by Dave and would probably say the same.

I am a higher end general contractor in Palo Alto and have been in business for 26 years.  My company has an excellent reputation for getting the job done right.  I hired Daves Custom Plumbing to do a sewer line replacement.  While on the job under a customers house, Daves Custom Plumbing damaged my customers phone line.  I had to have a new phone line installed to fix the damage.  I paid Daves Custom Plumbings invoice for the work minus the cost to repair the phone line.  Daves Custom Plumbing denied they had done damage to the phone line and sued me in small claims court to get the money for the phone line replacement.  When I showed up to the small claims court hearing there were two other customers of Daves Custom Plumbing there at the same time that he was suing.  It turns out, after talking to my contractor friends in my area, most had used Daves Custom Plumbing at one time.  Every one of these contractors ended up in court against Daves Custom Plumbing.  It is worth noting that my contractor friends and myself have never had any complaints filed against our companies for any reason.  Under no circumstances should you hire Daves Custom Plumbing to do any work unless you want to end up in court.  The owners are unprofessional and use court to mask their poor performance. 
I was also alerted to the fact that Daves Custom Plumbing is way behind on their rent payments.  Do not make the same mistake we have in hiring Daves Custom Plumbing.  Do a public records search to find out how many of Daves Custom Plumbing customers end up in court.

Excellent service.

They showed up and got right to work. When they left the area was cleaner than it was when they got there. It was good consistent service at a really good rate for all the things they did.

A few days later I received a thank you card in the mail directing me to yelp.com to leave a review about my experience. I found them on yelp with a lot of good and not so good reviews. I wanted to do something different so I checked to see if they were on angieslist.com. They weren't there so I'm glad to be the first review. Thanks for your great service Dave. I've definitely learned a few things about this plumbing experience.
