I have dealt with dozens of contractors over the years here in Palm Springs, so I was under the impression that I could get the job I wanted done with her. This was hands down the worst experience we have ever had in 17 years in Palm Springs with a "contractor." We were beyond understanding and tried repeatedly to work with Ranee to rectify the long list of mistakes she made - even after we learned from her unpaid subs that she forged and inflated invoices (we were on a cost + % standard contractor agreement) essentially stealing money directly from us.
Her electricians attempted to wire things without junction boxes.
Her "supervisor" (also known as her wallpaper remover) showed up and offered to work naked for extra money.
Her stucco and plaster people have NO idea what they were doing and 2 months later everywhere they worked is covered with cracks due to the improper installation of the lathe - which I attempted to point out to her on two different occasions.
Her framers didn't understand how insulation works and closed up exterior walls without insulation (that was laying right in front of the work area) even after we asked for all walls to be insulated with supplied insulation. They opened the walls back up and proceeded to cut multiple pieces of insulation that didn't connect to actually function as a proper layer of insulation.
She inflated some of the invoices as much as 70% and THEN added her percentage on top of that falsified number.
Collected that money she wasn't even due - and proceeded to not pay some of her subs - who then came to the house with paperwork to file liens against the property for non-paid invoices.
Do yourself a favor if you're considering hiring this "contractor" - and come see for yourself what kind of work she did.
We have tried over the course of 2+ months to work with her in regards to all of these issues. She decided the best thing to do was to attempt to disappear and stop returning emails.
