My pool tile had been installed about 3 years ago by the prior property owner. The tile was incorrectly installed and tiles were popping off and the deck had forced a crack into the pool wall because of the poor/incorrect installation. As a result, there was much water loss through the crack for the proceeding months before the replacement. Rammel Construction was the only contractor of the 4 that bid on my job that correctly diagnosed the issues with the prior installation. They were knowledgable and credible from the beginning. The job from start to finish took 2 guys 3 days to complete. The pool is approximately 32 x 20 with a spill-over spa that is about 7x5. Tasks included:
- Draining pool
- Removing old tile
- repairing damaged cracks in the wall where it was leaking
- ensuring a proper gasket between the concrete deck and concrete pool wall (which was the incorrectly done part from the previous installation; the deck was cemented to the wall, so in the summer when the deck was expanding and contracting it was pushing tiles off the wall.)
- install new tile
- grout new tile
- silicon seal the gasket/gap between deck and tile.
The team worked several long days and knocked it out in 3 days. The quality of the work is also superior; I am most impressed that the tile is extremely level around the entire pool, which is remarkable given that I chose a long, narrow horizontal tile. Truly, Rammel Construction knows there way around pools!

Although it got off to a slow start due to the memorial day holiday, once they started they saw the project through to completion. The entire project was done in about two weeks time. We made changes on the fly and they were responsive and offered good suggestions on how to achieve what we wanted in a cost effective manner. I had Juan's, (the project supervisor), cell phone number and he was always responsive. I don't have any hesitation recommending them.
