The Door Specialist - An Unlicensed Contractor

We recently bought a home in Indian Wells and the previous owner had neglected a few items, one of them being the front doors. We had Mike come out and take a look, liked him and the price, so asked him to do the job. Bottom line he basically rebuilt the front doors with new hardware. They close properly now, look and lock much better. Mike wasn't happy with one aspect of the job and took it upon himself to order the part and come back out to install it. Anytime we have a door issue now our only call will be to Mike.

Mike is an incredibly nice person and strives to give his customers the best service. However, this project ended up costing me quite a bit more than I thought I would be paying. I had an estimate for a full door and frame replacement from a retail vendor that was very high (I thought), which is what prompted me to reach out and find him on Home Advisor. Mike just replaced the door using the same frame but also added new hardware and weather stripping to my front door. All of this cost me more than the single full door and frame replacement estimate that I started with. I’m honestly not sure if I could have gotten out of this job at a lower cost, regardless of who I used. So the trade-off was an entire new door and frame (versus a repaired door) and then some upgrades to a second door. In hindsight, I might have opted for the entire new door and frame on the one door, and then used someone like Mike to upgrade the second door. Cost-wise, I think it would have been about the same as I paid. For me, the lesson learned is to never just replace a door. I think it is smarter (from both a utility and aesthetic point of view) to replace the entire door and frame.

Mike Sassi called me back quickly after entering my request on Home Advisor and was available for immediate service. He showed up on time and finished the job in a timely manner. I would definitely hire Mike again.

$200 for 1 hour of work. Charges $85 per hour for labor plus $65 trip charge. Was not able to fix my problem, water coming in on exterior French doors. Was not able to adjust my bi-fold doors. Did adjust French doors and put in superior new weather strip. This guy knows what he is doing.
