If you are looking for a residential construction or remodeling contractor in the Palm Springs, Palm Desert and other Coachella Valley areas, my opinion, based on what I have observed, is that there are better alternatives out there in terms of cost, supervision and quality. Recommend that you keep looking and get competitive bids and references. Make sure that your contractor AND the contractor's subcontractors are licensed and insured (workers comp & liability). Demand certificates of insurance in advance. Also, verify that the contractor has obtained the required building permits. Call your local Building Department to verify if a permit is needed for your type of project. Do not depend on the word of the contractor. Working without a permit gives the contractor the opportunity to not comply with building codes and requirements, not design and build the project in accordance with building code requirements, and not obtain the required inspections by building inspectors to verify that the work has been done properly and in accordance with applicable building codes. This is NEVER in your favor. Also, remodeling contractors who do at least some of their own work, instead of subcontracting out all of the work to subcontractors, will give you a better job at a better price. Also, make sure that the contractor will have, and does, have full time supervision on your project.
