Called and set date to clean carpets and cushions that had been done in past years for approximately $400.00-$500.00.  Unfortunately, did not get an estimate prior to his doing the job.  Had our housekeeper meet him and open and close the house while we were out of town.  When I saw the bill, and knew he worked a total of 3.5 hours, I called and questioned the fact that his hourly rate was $235.00 per hour and didn't he think that was excessive?  I guess he didn't because he informed me his $50,000.00 piece of equipment in the back of his van and his expert labor justified the cost.  I won't knock the quality or his responsiveness, just get a competitive bid, in writing before you engage his services.
