Late May, 2021, I was looking to install a chairlift for my mother who lives in Martinez, CA. After few researches and interviews with potential installers, I decided to choose Gamburd to install a Bruno Elan chairlift. It was the right decision! The experience I had with Gamburd staff from the initial and follow up phone calls to the manager, Crista Pounders, the evaluating technician David Hernandez, and the installing technician Danny Hernandez had been excellent and very positive. My family and I would like to thank Crista, David, and Danny for being professional, helpful, courteous, informative, and accommodating to our needs. Special thanks to Danny who came to install the unit on his day off so that my mother who has been struggling to go upstairs could use it right away. She is very pleased and appreciative with the chairlift. I definitely and highly recommend Gamburd for anyone. The company initially explained steps to take (e.g. fuse replacement) prior to scheduling repairs. The Tech arrived within the estimated time frame and repaired the issue.

Gamburd recently completed an extensive renovation of the master bathroom in our 1-story house to make it safe and accessible as we age. They removed a small oval bathtub, created a new curbless shower that can be used with a wheelchair, removed a dark “closet” around the toilet and installed grab bars next to the toilet and in the shower area. They also did a minor update (floor tile and countertops) in the kitchen. We are 100% pleased with the results and the process, from start to finish. After looking in vain for the right contractor, we saw a truck on the freeway marked, “Gamburd Inc…. Accessible bathrooms.” We looked them up and found that they specialize in home modifications to accommodate disability—stair chairs, ramps, grab bars, and curbless showers! Their license checked out with the Contractors’ State License Board. Their knowledgeable salesman David measured the room and drafted proposed computer layouts. We visited their showroom in Pacoima, where we discussed our needs and ideas with owner Israel Gamburd. Our positive impression was confirmed by a very happy client whose house Gamburd had remodeled to accommodate a paraplegic family member. Gamburd sent us a written quote; then, Israel, David, and construction foreman Juan H visited us to go over the quote and clarify details about what we wanted. When we signed the final quote, we knew we were in the right hands. Nearly all work was done by Gamburd employees; a stone fabricator hired by Gamburd did the countertops. Gamburd obtained the building permit and managed city inspections. Our project lead was Irwin, who coordinated closely with foreman Juan H; the Gamburd team also included Sergio, Manny, Miguel, Juan L, Rudy, and Jose, each with special skills. Work started with a full day of preparation, placing protective Ramboard on the floors throughout the house and plastic Zipwalls to contain dust from the work. From then on, at least 2 workers were here every day during the 7-week project. They worked hard, minimized disruption, and kept us informed of what to expect. The Schluter products they installed worked perfectly to leakproof the shower area and ensure proper drainage. The city inspector told us we had a good contractor, and we passed all inspections perfectly. Irwin and Juan H consulted with us frequently on many issues—heights of the counters, shower bench and grab bars, placement of medicine cabinets and electrical fixtures, the pattern of tile installation. Communication, teamwork, and craftsmanship were always excellent. At the end of the project, the only added costs were minor, for unplanned electrical work required to correct problems with the original house wiring and for installing new floor tile in the laundry room at our request, not part of the original project. Bottom line: excellent work done by a very competent professional team. We recommend Gamburd without reservation.

Jose was excellent. He called when he was on his way explained the removal process and helped me find the best place in the garage to store the equipment. This service allowed my husband to stay at home for the last few years of his life.

They met the price of another provider. They came on time and installed and trained us to use the lift. Explained everything including how to maintain the rail and chair. Very professional.

Eydie told us that Auggie would be at our house late in the afternoon on Saturday to install the chair lift. He arrived at our house at 5pm and worked until 10pm to have the chair lift installed. He only took one short break (which he asked my husband it he could take). I NOW HAVE MY FREEDOM BACK. IF YOU NEED A CHAIR LIFT YOU WILL NOT GO WRONG ON CALLING THEM AND HAVING THEM GIVE YOU YOUR FREEDOM BACK.

David Hernandez arrived perfectly on time.  David is the nice gentleman I'd been talking with since I first called Gamburd.  He was so helpful every step of the way with confirmation emails and phone calls - but NOT too many!  
He patiently gave us a few days to figure out exactly what Mom needed and once we knew what she wanted and needed, I called him and made the appointment.  I asked him to have the installer (who ended up being David) please bring the white and the stainless so my mom could make the final decision as to what her choice was to be installed in her bathroom.  
I emailed David photos beforehand showing the shower and the separate tub so he could see what the job would entail.  Just from the photos, he was very straightforward and honest about most likely not being able to put bars for easy access in and out of the Corian/fiberglass jacuzzi tub.  And once he saw the tub, he told us that there just was no way to do it safely given the material of the tub and the configuration of the walls in the bathroom so we ended up only having him do the shower.  
The price for two grab bars was really competitive and included installation AND the actual high quality grab bars.  That whole package is what helped us make the decision to utilize Gamburd.  We had done our homework and had checked out safety bars at a "big box" store so we know that the price was very competitive and we knew Gamburd had the experience to do it right. The entire installation was very easy, and David was in and out in about an hour.
 
We will definitely use the services of Gamburd again if we need anything else for home safety and we'll recommend this company to anyone we know or anyone we hear of who needs not only safety grab bars but an experienced installer.

Manny from Gamburd came as scheduled and reviewed various options with us and suggested an optimal
solution for us - a chair lift on a side passage. He promptly sent an
estimate and scheduled the installation soon. Their workers, who had to do
some related concrete work, made a minor mistake and the company
arranged to redo the work without any hesitation. The work was redone satisfactorily and as scheduled without any delay in installation of the chair lift. The chair installation was
done efficiently, professionally and on time. We would recommend and use Gamburd
again.

The installer arrived on time and began the installation which took about three hours.  He was personable and it was obvious he knew what he was doing. The price charged was exactly what we were quoted earlier.  Following the installation, he showed us how the lift operated and explained the warranty coverage He cleaned up the area and removed shipping materials. Gamburd is very highly rated, and judging from our experience, I can see why.

It turned out just fine. It turned out very well. There was no complaints or issues because it was exactly what it was and it was a good deal. There was no additional charges. They came in, did the work and they left. They did everything, they were easy to communicate with and easy to schedule with so there was no problem. Gamburd generally specializes in those types of mobility products and services. They knew what they were doing and they did it efficiently. They gave us a choice between a longer and the shorter bars so we made our choice and it worked out. They did what we had expected. There were no bad surprises or anything.

I hired Gamburd to install a chairlift for a straight interior stairwell for my elderly mother.  Ramon, the representative I dealt with, was extremely responsive, professional, knowledgeable, personable and generous with his time. They gave a very timely and competitive bid and offered a better warranty than other companies I contacted.  They were also able to schedule installation more quickly than other companies. Their installation technician was friendly, professional, respectful, and meticulous. It has been a long time since I've worked with a vendor who did such a good job and was such a pleasure to work with.  Highly recommended.

My Dad liked the bars so much that I had them come back and install two more bars around the toilet.  Gamburd specializes in retrofitting homes for handicap access.  See their website for pictures of the types of jobs they have done.

They were wonderful! They were very good on follow up and they do not mind coming out any time you need them. The people were so nice and accommodating, and they did not let our dog out. I think the price was fair. There were some that were lower, but the quality of the chair was not as good, and that was why we chose them. It let us stay in this house, otherwise we would have to move.

Gamburd came to the house and made suggestions, presented a proposal for the work and got the job done within the time frame they provided.  The professionalism and empathy was exemplary.  Now my dad goes any where inside the house and can escape on his electric wheel chair when he feels the urge to wander.  

Excellent communication. They even emailed us a photo of the installer who would be coming to our home. He was on time, went right to work, showed me how the bars would look before he started drilling, and left the area clean when he was finished. We are very pleased with their products and their service and would definitely recommend ths company to anyone.

I used them.  It was fantastic.  We did it all remote because we will bringing my mother in law back from the mid west and she can't climb stairs.  I did all the communication remotely and it was approved and installed based by my remote authority. It went perfect.  They were excellent.

Very smoothly.  The house was occupied during renovation, so there was the usual dust and noise (particularly during the hot mop phase).  But the crew was always careful and tidy and conscientious.  We appreciated the guidance from the project manager, Juan, and are very pleased with the results.

Our search first started with a  competitor of Gamburd. They swayed us towards another brand of chair lift which had a 2-rail system and we were pretty set on that style. We were looking for something with a low profile (as low a profile as a chair lift can get). Then I searched further and found Gamburd on Angie's List. I have to tell you from the first phone call I made, I spoke to Carols and the experience just got better better. I spoke to Isreal and  he invited down to his showroom to actually get an opportunity to phyically try out the chair and lift. Considering I had a negative recall of a lift I had seen in a home, I couldn't wait to get down to the showroom. Chair lifts are big investment and they aren't always aesthetically pleasing so I really needed to SEE one again to make sure this was exactly what we wanted. Isreal took at least 2 hours with me, it was late and the employees were leaving but he didn't make me feel rushed to make a decision and I felt he was upfront and honest about the chair I was looking at. I got to see the rail system in his warehouse so I could see just how much room the system would take up. We settled on a Electra-Ride iii from Bruno.
Manny came out to our home and measured the stairs/space. A quote came back to me within 24 hours and I put down the deposit. Within 2 days after that Manny came out again and did the detail work on the actual measurements for the rail. Again the drawing were in my email within 24 hours and waiting my approval. I have to say the estimated arrive time for the chair was 4-5 weeks but I don't think it took that long to get the call that the chair was in and they were ready to install it. It took about 4 hours to get it installed and Manny took a lot of time to explain to us how the chair worked. The delivery of the chair came just in time because my mother, although she didn't think she needed a chair lift, she did. Her medical condition had gotten a little worse and we could not have risked getting her up the stairs to her room without the chair. To this day, she does not attempt the stairs without the lift. She uses it every day.
I also ended up purchasing and having Gamburd install some grab bars in my Mother's shower which is fiberglass and a grab bar towel rack. All of these look great. All in all, this is above all one of the most professional companies I have had the pleasure of doing business with and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. Thank you Isreal and Manny for raising the bar on customer service and honesty.
