Scott is a very knowledgeable arborist and has been extremely responsive to any questions I have had. His main concern is safety and preservation of the trees, and I was very pleased with the way the trees looked after his work. His crew was wonderful and the entire experience was great. In addition, I won't need to prune again for at least 3 years. I would use him again and would highly recommend him.

He was very concerned about the health of the tree and was very knowledgeable. They were very efficient and the pricing was fair.

Scott Johnson came out to look at our trees and give an estimate for pruning. He is an arborist and carefully considered the best approach to pruning without encouraging more growth as this was our objective. Scott's estimate was fair and competitive. His company is fully insured, which is important to us. Since we had used him in the past with good results, we agreed to proceed. The workers arrived on schedule, were very polite and accommodating, and worked efficiently. We are very happy with the work done and the company's professionalism. Our trees look great. We highly recommend Scott Johnson and Bay Cities Tree Preservation.

Owner was at the property to supervise his workers and then left shortly after they started. They used chainsaws to trim -- not something that I am against, per se. But they did such a bad job that there were errant cuts in the branches and trunks that remained after the job -- in short it looks like they were wildly swinging the chain saws around and not being deliberate or careful. They also cut support wires for several branches and did not repair them after the job. I expect a few trees to lose limbs in the months to come. I wouldn't recommend these guys.

The yard looks wonderful...just what we wanted. Each tree shows beautifully and the sun is streaming in. They cut just the right amount to get our money's worth and I know the job was done right. I got an education about the care and health of our trees from Chris, an extremely knowledgeable arborist. This family business is the one I wish I had found 15 years ago.

They trimmed a good deal of weight off a 225 year old native sycamore tree which has one massive branch spanning over the roof of my house. A second, younger sycamore tree was also trimmed to distribute its weight away from the house. The owner, Scott Johnson, a certified arborist came to inspect the trees, and we discussed how much to take off the older tree. This was a major pruning job. Five or six major branches were cut off the tree in order to lessen the weight which hung over the house. Because he is a certified arborist, he was able to explain what was best for the tree, and how much to take off the tree in order to slow its growth. The work was scheduled for a week later. On the day the work was performed, Scott called to say the crew woud be late, since one of his drivers had not shown up for work. They arrived about 4 hours later, with a full crew, and completed the work sooner than I expected. The only frustrating thing about the company is that Scott returns all the calls and sometimes it takes him a few days to get back to you. You've gotta keep calling, and then when you reach him, get his cell number. That's the only complaint, but his work is great, so it's not that big a deal. The guys were very neat cleaning up, and all the wood was removed, into the chipper.

We had several trees that needed to be removed or cut back a lot. We called three companies for quotes on the job. Bay Cities was extremely professional from the initial meeting to the cleaning and disposal of the cut wood. Scott was on time for giving us an estimate and was very thorough and informative. He was very clear and suggested options we hadn't thought of. The estimate was very reasonable and scheduling was easy. His work crew was very organized and punctual as well. They did a good job on our trees and were very easy to communicate with. Unlike some other tree trimming companies we have used, they knew what they were doing and left the trees looking healthy and balanced. Our home looks much better now as a result of their efforts.

They were very good, professional and reasonable. The only problem was with them, the job took a little bit longer, so they actually went away, they didn't finish it. They came back a week later, and they sent me a bill and I told him that they didn't finish and the manager didn't know. So they came back and finished and it looked great, then I sent in the check for it. They did the bulk of the job first, and I could understand. They did a very good job. I didn't call and harass them, because I know the way these jobs work and they have to grab them when they get them. The second part of the job they are coming back in January to do. I have a huge cedar tree, about 40 feet, in my front yard which had never been trimmed and they did a beautiful job with it. They were very careful with the landscaping also. They were insured and bonded, and to me, I wouldn't have anyone on my property that wasn't insured and bonded. I think that it is very important. I don't want anyone that is not insured, it is a big liability to me.

DIFFERENT CONTRACTORS: When we got a notice from LA City that they'd be trimming in our neighborhood, we started paying close attention and were aghast at work being done by the tree trimming contractor hired by the City. They were indiscriminately removing all tree limbs out from the trunk up to 15-20 feet (turning beautiful shade trees into lolly-pops on tall sticks), and removing most of the green foliage, turning trees into skeletons (...was the City paying their tree service contractor by the ton of material they removed ?) Anyway, we taped DO NOT TRIM signs to our trees and managed to keep the City crew away, then called Bay Cities Tree Preservation to come out and do a proper job (at our expense). We don't regret this one bit. The master arborists at Bay Cities can be hard to get hold of by phone, but don't give up ... call again if a day or two goes by and they haven't gotten back to you ... it's worth the extra effort if you care about the trees on your property.

IT WAS OK. IT WAS BEFORE WE MOVED IN. MY NEIGHBOR SHOWED ME THAT THE TREE WAS BY THE WALL, AND THEY SHOWED UP TO DO THE JOB, AND THEY CAME ON TIME. THERE WERE CHIPS IN THE DRIVEWAY, AND I THOUGHT THEY COULD HAVE DONE A LITTLE BETTER CLEAN UP.
