His manner was very taciturn, and his wife was friendly. His diagnosis of my dog's condition ended up being totally incorrect. He thought my dog was suffering from some sort allergies, probably to his food, and proceeded to recommend and sell us a large bag of and quot;specialand quot; dry food for about $50 and a flat of wet food in small cans made from duck meat...I do not recall the price now, but it was outlandish. I couldn't quite comprehend this sale and diagnosis, but he was firm. He then prescribed ten Valium pills...one milligram each...and some pain pills. Before he left, he suggested that my dog be seen by my regular vet!
We felt that the sale of about $100 worth of food was completely out of line and made for his own benefit. Allergies? Valium when the dog was nonresponsive in the first place? We were upset when he left because of the above and felt that we knew no more about what was ailing my dog than we did before his visit. Bottom line: my dogs gums were whitish which should have indicated something related to blood. Dog was seen the next day at a hospital and it was determined that he was bleeding internally, profusely, from a ruptured spleen. He had surgery right away and died within about a week. In hindsight, there was probably nothing this vet could have done to save my dog, but we were and still are very upset by the visit, the misdiagnosis, and what appeared to be a mercenary purpose for the call.

Got the cat when my sister passed away, and he was/is on his last legs. In human years, he's about 100. Vet and assistant came and knocked him out and gave him a complete work-over. He found things wrong and rectified them. He was very no-nonsense and honest. It's obvious that he knows what he's doing, and is an intelligent fellow. His concern for the animal's well-being was also clear. His treatment of the cat was as gentle as possible without compromising the cat's needs.
I've already called him a second time, and will certainly call him again. Dr. Claghorn is -exactly- the kind of vet I'd hoped to find, and I happily give him my highest recommendation.

The experience was made easier for my dog because she was surrounded by people who were kind and gentle. Both Dr Cleghorn and his assistant were compasionate beyound words.

They come out the house and performs all the treatments right there. His humanity and the ability to come out to your home and take care of your pets is what impresses me the most. Treating my cats at home really reduces the stress on my animals and myself.
