Esteban was brought in to do some claim work requested by a third party. Because it was a non-arms-length transaction, he took advantage of the situation and estimated $1000 to do some light repair work to the surface of a small, square section of wall (photos attached). I asked why so much cost for a job that will clearly not take that many man-hours nor materials. His response was that the cost was due to the large amount of prep and clean-up work which would be required. He must have thought I was an idiot because, given the size location of the job, it truly can't get much easier. Wall section was at ground level, extremely clear and super easy access, no obstructions, flat surface, square area literally just a few steps away from job parking. There was no deep repair or structural work required, and no blending to existing surfaces required. Because of the non-arms length aspect, I had to agree but asked to be contacted when the job was to start so I could check on the quality of the work. He agreed that he would definitely call when work was scheduled to start. Being that things were already so shady, I was worried I would not get a call back. Long story short, I never received any call. Two (2) weeks later, I received an emailed invoice for the $1000. No calls after that. Nothing. I finally called to ask why he had not even attempted to call. His response: Bad weather. Didn't have time to call. Sorry. In three weeks, he never had enough time to make a 5 minute phone call? Needless to say, I cannot vouch for the quality of his work, materials, or crew because I was never given the opportunity to check as it was being done. I have no idea if his work will last. But I can say that Esteban is not to be trusted. Esteban's response: "I have done absolutely nothing wrong." That's the reason--more than anything--I feel compelled to write this review to warn other people. He is the type takes advantage of the situation at every turn, and feels no remorse whatsoever in ignoring customer concerns. Sorry, Esteban, not everyone works this way. SUMMARY Esteban took unscrupulous advantage of a situation, had poor communications (AS IN NONE) --likely on purpose so his work could not be checked--and then gave the worst excuses, all while charging terribly exorbitant prices. I will let you be the judge. I am available for further questions, photos, etc. I will also be continuing to post photos here. I cannot recommend Oceanside Painting Company Inc / Esteban.
