Avoid Friedley’s Screen and Glass: Shoddy Window Installation Caused Major Water Damage Friedley’s Screen and Glass was hired to install 23 new Milgard windows in our home, and the results have been utterly disastrous. These 23 retrofit windows were improperly installed in every way, violating the window manufacturer’s requirements and causing multiple construction and fenestration experts to describe them as the worst window installation they’ve ever seen. The windows were installed over the wood siding, instead of inset, cutting corners and compromising waterproofing. Worse, they failed to comply with Title 24 energy efficiency requirements by neglecting to add insulation in the gaps created by the retrofit installation. Several of the windows didn’t even have caulk around the windows. This gross negligence has caused severe leaks during rains, gushing water down the walls and through the floors, and destroyed the energy efficiency of the entire home. To make matters worse, they cut through several of the original window frames, violating the building code and installing larger windows over the old window frames, voiding Milgard’s window warranties entirely. Because of their shoddy workmanship, water has gushed into every room in our home, down the walls, through the floors and flooded our crawl space with 8-10 inches of pooling water, resulting in severe water damage, mold, structural damage and significant repair costs. Friedley’s lack of professionalism and disregard for basic installation standards have left us with a nightmare of water damage and a thermal sieve from these brand new windows. Avoid Friedley’s Screen and Glass at all costs. Their careless and substandard work has created nothing but shock, financial strain, and major damage throughout our entire home. We are now in litigation due to his gross negligence. Save yourself the nightmare and find a contractor who follows the building code requirements, the manufacturer’s requirements, and cares about honesty and professionalism.

They are cutting corners and no longer flexible when it comes to solutions.

Absolutely atrocious customer service . . . . .
I had high hopes after looking for some time to find a vendor that would fix (rather than replace) some crank windows we were having problems with. Friedley's were recommended to me by our window washers. I also decided to get some sliding screen doors, which have been missing since we moved into the house.
A guy came out and seemed very knowledgeable -- my wife really dealth with him. They were supposed to com back on July 3 -- repair the window problems the first guy identified, and take pictures of the other window to figure out the brand so that we could move on with that. They installed the screen doors, but the older dope who showed up had no idea about the other work that was supposed to be done (which I also confirmed by phone with the company), wasn't vaguely interested in addressing it or call the shop or anything helpful like that. He actually had the nerve to tell me that it was OK because if he got done early he could go home -- how wonderful for him. For me, however, it meand an hour drive both ways to get back adn a lost day of work for sit and wait for another, totally unnecessary visit. That visit never came and the project sat unfinished all summer.
I called and called over the course of TWO MONTHS --- I left 7 (SEVEN!!!!!!!) unreturned messages. Unbelieveably, TWO of them were with the owner, Brad, who told me on the two separate occastions that he would call me back by the end of the day -- only to NEVER call me back. Maybe he will read this -- HI BRAD!!!! The office staff was useless saying "all they can do" is to leave another message for Brad.
I gave up and called Quality Windows, based on a mention in another (Yelp) negative Friedley's review. They came the next day, which really fit my schedule.
If you have a busy life (or any life) and can't be put in the position of chasing people down to give them your business -- avoid this place.

If I had to have more windows done, I 'd go back to Friedly's, they're known in this town. It was really good, we love our windows, they way they open, they're just real nice. I have one complaint, there was one bedroom, a little space or something that shouldn't been because dirt can get through in there.

The personnel were very helpful, informative and efficient. The work was done efficiently and in a timely manner.

FRIEDLEY'S MOBILE SCREEN WAS FAST TO ARRIVE AT MY HOME TO MEASURE, AND MAKE NEW SCREENS FOR THE WINDOWS AT MY HOUSE. THEY WERE EASY TO DEAL WITH, AND SET UP MY APPOINTMENT AROUND MY SCHEDULE. GREAT WORK.
