BEFORE YOU SIGN A CONTRACT WITH DORAN CONSTRUCTION of Santa Cruz please think again. I used J.P. and his company to remodel my beach cottage in Seabright. Months after the job was finished, he sued me for not paying him in excess of the contracted amount. He also interfered with my efforts to sell the house by filing a mechanics lien for three times the amount he claimed was due while the property was in Escrow. J.P. then filed a $40,000 lawsuit, more than the total amount of my remodel job. He refused all attempts to settle the case out of court, and did not show up after agreeing to a mediation session. His nephew acts as his attorney, so it costs him nothing to sue you! Check his nephew's law office website, Doran Construction is listed as one of their four top clients. This is a SCAM. Don't fall for it.
