I contacted American Sliding Door to install pet doors in my sliding glass door and in the screen door for the slider. I was so happy to have a local provider (I like to support the local businesses if possible).
I knew I was going to have to replace the glass on the sliding door in order to have the pet door through the glass. I found the price very reasonable considering the glass replacement, screen door, and pet door hardware. They are excellent quality pet doors.
The pet door in the slider comes with two flaps, one inside and outside the glass, this keeps the door insulated. There are also magnets that hold the pet door closed from wind or airflow. If you need to remove any of the magnets or flaps to help during the training of your pet, it is fairly easy with this pet door.
Despite already having a screen door, the entire screen door needed to be replaced to accommodate the pet door hardware in the screen. I find the quality of the new screen door much better than the original so I found the additional cost in the screen door to be worth it.
The workers were extremely professional. They offered to install the door shortly after everything arrived in their shop. Everything came out perfect. They took there time to make sure we were going to be happy with the end product.
The door he repaired was completely non-functional when he started. Now it slides perfectly and almost silently.
He was in and out within a few hours. He cleaned up his workspace, the only way you would know that he was in our house is that the door now works.
He charged exactly what was quoted over the phone.
My husband and I are very impressed with his work and would recommend him to anyone who needs this service.
Ron Semjan, the owner of American sliding door, personally did all of the work. The glass, in our sliding doors, was broken by AvinoTree Service. At my request, Ron came over and made a repair estimate. He did such a great job, I asked him for estimates to completely replace; three glass frames, three windows, a window screen and some sliding glass wheels (or "runners"). Ron's new bid was, by far, the lowest bid. He finished well ahead of schedule and right on the budget. Wow! I cannot remember the last time that happened, with a skilled craftsman I had hired. Within the next year, I will ask him to relace more of our 32 year old windows.
Sincerely,
Porter L. Baymon
I marked the price as fair because it was more expensive than what we discussed over the phone. The stainless steel strip was extra. It was also expensive when you consider that it took about an hour to complete the work.
First he took off some molding that was making it harder to reach the work area. I was a bit alarmed, thinking that it might require at least some paint touch-up, but it did not; he was amazingly neat. It turned out that even that was not quite sufficient, in that the door's motion indicated a problem with the back end of the metal track deep inside the wall. So he took the door off, and found that a screw was missing at the end of the track. Luckily he had a tool that allowed him to reach into the wall and replace the screw. There is also a potential interference from a screw protruding back from an electrical outlet. He pointed it out for future reference, just in case, but it has not caused a problem yet and is not likely to. So at that point he put it all back together.
Overall I'm quite happy with the work and with Ranko's professionalism, even though the scope of the job was rather more than I had imagined. It did appear to be necessary.
