Justin's Landscape was the only business to return my call, out of 5 listed on Angie's List. An office woman was pleasant and receptive to my needs and time restraints, and David called before arriving to confirm our evaluation date/time. He was prompt and pleasant, spending time to hear my son's wants and needs with the changes, and offered suggestions in a respectful, knowledgable, and helpful way for me to make good choices on the project. My need was to complete the landscape before my son returned from Iraq, before Christmas. I was not able to be at the house during the work, but David presented himself so well I felt no concerns having him complete the work. He measured, made notes, and presented me with the costs on time with a great dollar figure. I was quoted $900 by another business months before, but not in writing. David presented me with a detailed proposal of $670, plus a detailed proposal for a driveway extension I inquired about. The work was done ahead of schedule and the site was totally cleaned up. My son came home to a nice yard, not needing to fix anything, to rejoin our family.
I was happy from start to finish and quickly asked David to come to my place for an estimate on some horse pasture work. Justin's Landscape again observed the times with professionalism and consideration. David brought his father to review the work and they listened to my wants for a horse paddock, low drive area to a shop area, and showed great patience with my questions and projections of the hedge landscaping around an acre of the property. Again, I was presented with a detailed quote on time and the price was very good. I had an 10 x 60 foot strip compacted with decomposed granite so horses would not walk in mud - whenever it does rain! Then had a semi circle of 30 x 12 feet filled for a level and compacted drive through area to a shop area, where trucks would go through. That was $700.
The work began on time and I appreciated the concern shown for my property. David was at the site to begin the work, meeting the large dump truck of decomposed granite. David did not have that truck cross a decorative, stamped cement driveway. David had 7 cubic yards of decomp granite dumped on the asphalt and it was reloaded, by hand to a pick-up, driven to the barn and unloaded by hand. Justin's Landscape employee worked quickly, all day, moving the dg to the location and packing it down. David returned before the work was completed, and both men swept and hosed down the dumped area so there was no sign of the pile. David had me review and approve the work, agreeing to return to compacted more of the horse paddock - and he did that with his father to my approval.
Justin's Landscape gave me an estimate on two more landscape projects for a cement mow strip, and replacing and extending some border hedges. The quotes were reasonable and I will be scheduling the work for later January and then planting hedges late in February. The knowledge of Justin's Landscape is as important as the willingness to research more information, and the respect shown to me will keep me using this business. It was a wonderful experience, with great work and very competitive pricing.
